This may deserve a different thread, but does anyone hunt with their big bore revolver?

I have been having good luck lately finding S&Ws that have been abused by former owners. My latest is an 8 3/8 model 29-3 that has a few patches of rust and the rear sight was removed but came with it in a bag. The screw to attach it is missing. The trigger is surprisingly nice and it doesn't appear to have been shot much. I put it on lawaway with the intention to chop the barrel to 5" and carry it. But first I'm going to put the rear sight back on, clean it up, put different grips on it and then shoot it.

Turning a beater gun into something that makes you smile every time you grab it is well worth the investment. A 5" N Frame .44 is .....

Just read through this thread. Nice guns/stories.

Message to Tamara: You posted that you lust after fixed sight N frames. This is stretching my memory a bit, but in the mid-90s Smith made a run of 629-?s, 3 inchers with a full lug barrel. Cylinder was fluted, round butt. I think it was 200 in the run, so maybe kinda hard to spot one in the wild?

I handled one at a gun show. Didn't buy it as the guy wanted crazy money. Like $900.

Lew Horton distributors had a bunch of cool guns done like that in the 80's and 90's. 44 spl, 44 mag, 45acp, 45 colts....

Not the one I saw. Fixed front and rear. They made plenty of three inch adjustable ones, too.

Sometimes... although some might argue that .357mag isn't a "big bore".
