    Benelli M2 & choke tubes

My department just purchased 2 benelli M2's. Previously we used 870's and were only allowed to carry slugs. That Chief has since left and now we have these Benelli's. Anyone using these on duty at all? I'm curious as to what choke to throw in them for buckshot.

Just an opinion, but I would say IC in case you needed to transition to a slug.

I have an M2 tactical that I like a lot. It is the only auto-loading social shotgun I have really used much. Most of my prior experience has been with 870's. I am a big fan of the Vang-comp system which gives you a cylinder bore barrel that patterns like a full, but he can't do the mods on an M2.

I run an improved cylinder choke on my M2, so I can switch between buck and slugs. If you are going to carry buckshot only, then go with a full choke.

Also, if you have the option, check out the Mesa Tactical stock. It greatly improves the LOP and he ergonomics of the gun, at least for me.

If you're running Federal LE buckshot with Flite-Control wads (and you should be) then the IC choke is a good choice regardless. Add in the possibility of running slugs and IC is pretty much mandatory.

Have you experienced any durability issues with the Mesa stock?

Love it on my M1S90 and our department 870s, but I have T-rex arms.

None noted so far, but they haven't really been abused so far.

My stock has not seen heavy use. It is a house gun for me, so other than occasional trips to the range, it mostly sits in a safe. That said the fir and finish of the Mesa stock is at least as good as the factory furniture. Mine also wears a Surefire forend.
