Been down the “true co-witness” road with carbines with large numbers of shooters. At best it’s a distraction that hampers performance. At worst you have people trying to use the red dot and the irons at the same time.

If you are running an optic, the optic is your primary sighting system.

The iron sights on the 1301 are a great choice if you want to use irons as your primary sights

But the LPA rear does not play well with micro-sized red dots. It blocks too much of the optic.
I think it's designed to be a back-up red dot in case the irons fail.

That's fair and I've had the same experience with carbines. The Scalarworks would allow for the complete removal of the rear sight without necessitating the taller Picatinny rail. I'm not sure I'll bother though. I'm just a bit disappointed with the design of the Aridus sight. In a perfect work Beretta would have pinned the front sight/rail and Aridus would have used detents. I guess we can't have it all.

Not very bright but does lack ambition
It’s not absolute from what I can tell - it looks about lower 1/4.

I don’t believe that video still is from directly behind the sights.

That POV makes the front side look lower / better than it is, though in fairness, it also makes the issue with the rear sight (which is the main problem) look worse than actually it is. The rear sight in that still is taking up 3/4 of the window, which I don’t think is accurate, But even half the window on an optic a small as an RMR is a problem.

If I had to run the Scalar works for what ever reason I would remove the LPA rear and simply use the optic body as the back up rear.

If your complaint is the aperture, LPA makes different apertures. You could cut the aperture in half if you like the Haut style.

If I had to use the scalar works mount I would definitely remove the rear sight And simply use the optic body as my back up rear if something happened to the dot.

Adjustments on the rear iron site of the Aridus are a PITA but Remember it’s only a secondary or back up system not some thing you would be adjusting often. I believe this is what drove the minimalist design of the CROM. It’s a trade off for increased performance with the optic. Even on the CROM, I prefer the “Rob Haught” mod to get the top of the ring out of the FOV.

I am thinking about doing that even without the optic.

I cowitnessed my rear sit to my dot after zeroing the dot to save ammo and confirmed with one round of flight control at 20 yards. Good enough. Make sure to use something on the screws of the rear sight. they like to walk free.

    CROM With Romeo 5

I have a Romeo 5 installed on my factory pic rail. I just ordered the CROM RH for Aimpoint models, because they are in stock. There's been discussions that the Romeo 5 wont work. I'll clear this up when my CROM arrives.

In the meantime, here's some evidence showing it will work.
