The 3.5" receiver guns (A400 X+, 1301 Comp, 1301 Comp Pro) have 3.5" Barrel Extensions. They are too long to fit into the 3" Receiver guns (1301 Tac, A400 Lite Synthetic). Going the other way yields improper lockup and fitment as the bolt travel is longer and the ejector is in the wrong spot, although it would fit in the receiver without the bolt carrier assy. In short, they are incompatible.

If you want a VR bbl for the 3" receiver, you need the A400 Lite Synthetic bbl (https://www.berettausa.com/en-us/bbl...tte/jb400sd28/) 28" - also available in 26" - (https://www.berettausa.com/en-us/bbl...tte/jb400sd26/) and the gas system spacer (https://www.midwestgunworks.com/page/mgwi/prod/C5F172)

I just snagged a Gen1 1301 Competition, and saw a 1301 Tactical barrel assembly online.

That would seem to be a great setup - big loading gate and a shorter factory barrel.

    Thanks for any advice!
Not possible. You can put a 21" bbl on, and that's as short as we do. https://www.midwestgunworks.com/page.../6C96262B06000

ETA: I am pretty sure these are OEM parts.

It looks like what is being shipped on this gun:
    https://www.beretta.com/en-us/1301-comp-pro/

And my research was that these things seem to be forward and backward compatible, but know that the Tactical is on a 3" receiver and the Comp models are on a 3.5" receiver, even though they have 3" chambers (to create a bigger hole for twin and quad loading). The 3" versions of all of this stuff seemed to be more available, but I found the 3.5" version I needed at MGW.
See my reply here guys. https://pistol-forum.com/showthread....=1#post1226205

It has to be fitted for long term reliability and possibly won't work at all if you just drop it in.

Indeed. I'm shooting for a 1301 Competition receiver with an 18.5" vent rib barrel, then I'll Mbogo the shit out of that thing.

(Inside joke for all the Symtac alumni in the crowd.)

That setup does make the 1301T into a useable bird/clay gun, if you think you might want to try that. When Beretta has amazing holiday discounts, the price gets reasonable, too.

Great minds think alike. Monday is Memorial Day, and I have a Beretta coupon in my wee stubby digits.

Someone is selling a 1301 Tactical barrel on eBay right now. I have no use for it but someone here may.

People are also scalping the shit out of Aridus goods.

Not scalping, but c'mon.... just wait....

This thread will be a mish mash, but hopefully of value to others (a very little bit), and replies of value to me. I've been doing a ton of research and finally dropped the coin on a 1301 tactical. I had been on the waiting list for an LTT, but decided delaying didn't make sense. Inflation is going up, prices are up at least $100 since 6 months ago, and Sleepy Joe is trying to ban everything. Shotty is on the way, almost. My payment is on the way, but I figure I'll have it in hand by Friday next week.

1st, a reply to a comment I was reading from 2019. I figure someone else will find it relevant. The poster commented that it shot well in a match, but wasn't competitive with the other guns that had the long magazine tubes. Since most of the extensions I've seen are using Nordic tubes, and the extension consists of a magazine nut, the tube, and an end cap, why not buy an extra long tube and spring for those days you want more magazine capacity in a match? My only other advice for you married guys is to not let your wife know this when you are using the match as an excuse to buy a 1301 comp gun. She might see through the math and decide $100 is cheaper than $1,500.

Anyway, I've decided to buy on a budget and get what actually improves things. I'm planning to keep the stock furniture for now. I like the feel and the LOP. For $20 I can add a QD cup to the stock and run a side sling. I was hot and heavy for a Magpul fore-end and then asked myself why. It is easy to add on a light and a QD socket. Alternatively, GG&G sells a QD sling loop/pic rail for $41. I have a spare Olight Odin Mini that will fit on the pic rail just fine and it won't be all the way out.

When I can find one for a reasonable price, the Aridus CROM seems to offer advantages that merit the cost. Planning on one of the Holosun 515 optics with an Aimpoint footprint. I haven't read any posts discussing this, but I think the reticle with a 65moa circle and dot could be very useful for a shotgun. 25 yards is often considered the max practical range for buckshot due to spread with an open cylinder choke. At 25 yards, a 65moa circle is about 16.25". If you're using flight control ammo, it will group tighter than the 1" per yard of travel expectation. The circle is really close to being a guide for the spread. Mount the gun and shoot when the circle covers where you want to hit and you are almost guaranteed that the pattern will be within the circle. At 7 yards, the circle on the target will be small. Anyway, that's the plan. Actual shooting will determine if if the theory is correct.

A mag extension when they can be found. The 3" competition shell lifter when they are back in stock. That's the plan.

So, since the 1301 Comp is 3.5", any chance this would work out on my 391 Xtreama2? Because I really do not want a second gun that does almost exactly what the one I have does

In related news, I adjusted the drop on the Xtreama and just had a great night on skeet targets. I have been using it primarily for local club level three gun these days, and took it tonight to just get some more reps on it, since I have been focused on my 686 for skeet. Pretty sure I should have adjusted the stock a long time ago, because I went 24/25/23/22 and that is a little better than I have been shooting lately.
