Eating my veggies,or,shooting one hand only

So I'd been neglecting my SHO and WHO training, and got proactive.

I shot the Dot Torture drill one handed. The FS parts I shot SHO, and the SHO/WHO parts I shot WHO.(That sounds clear in my head)

I also added reloads to the mix, again done OHO according to the string of fire.

Somewhat humbling, but now I can have ice cream!

I'm going to write a longer post eventually. Upshot is that a family member has one hand. When I determined that he was serious about shooting, I purchased a RTF G19 and a left handed holster (he only has a left hand). I did 90% of my shooting this summer one handed, left handed. The tough part was learning to load the magazines with my left hand.

Possibly the best single thing I've ever done to improve my overall shooting.

Funny! Though I usually like to separate my shooting time from my eating time with a little hand washing time.

I use 1-handed shooting as a practice aid. After a mag or some dry fire of sho, my 2-handed shooting improves immediately. Who doesn't have the same impact, but a) it's a useful skill, and b) it forces me to think about the fundamentals more explicitly, which is probably good for my shooting in the longer term.

    Lead is a mineral, right?

(Photo was semi-staged: I had the gun loaded at the 50 yard line, then my ham sammitch showed up. I washed my hands and then thought it be funny to cap rounds at 50 yard steel and get a photo...)

There are several drills that I incorporate into my SHO and WHO practice besides just the drills with SHO/WHO components. The Typerwiter and 20 hits are a couple of ones that I do SHO/WHO on a regular basis. I normally do SHO from holster and WHO from ready.
