    Went old school today.

I decided to take one of my faves to the range today.
    3.5 inch S&W Model 27-2, manufactured circa 1972.

While it's a favorite, I haven't shot it in several years. I was itching for a change, so I loaded up some manly magnums launching a 158 grain JHP at nearly 1400 fps. The resulting fire ball from the muzzle was quite spectacular. Landing shot after shot in the ten ring at fifteen yards, double action, reminded me why it's always been on my never sell list. It also reminded me of a time when quality was simply the status quo instead of the exception and when things were made to last. It was a good day.

Beautiful piece. Pictures like that make me want to buy one, but I'm just not a revolver shooter.

One similar is definitely on the top of my wishlist.

I started my LE career with one of these. When I went to work for the state I had to carry the mandated weapon, so being young and stupid I traded that one off for something I can't even remember. It took me a long time to find a cherry one like this. It may very well be buried with me.

I love revolvers, and that's a beauty. I've said many, many times there's not much that needs to be done you can't do with a 4" .357.

The hammer of Thor was definitely present on the range today. I love seeing the reactions of shooters who've come of age in the plastic fantastic era, where the .40 is seen as a powerhouse.

Strap on that war hammer instead of the usual Combat Tupperware.

Wouldn't want anyone to forget this thing that makes my heart happy every time I pick it up..a thing that is heavy, where you feel wood on your hands, and real steel. You know when that trigger is pressed with Magnum loads that it will really spew forth fire and you know your opponent will feel the blast.
