Both posted gun models look really good! I don't think any manufacturer can release a new gun model without Tokarev's knowledge! He stays on top of these things.

Both posted gun models look really good! I don't think any manufacturer can release a new gun model without Tokarev's knowledge! He stays on top of these things.
It's obvious this topic should be let go and closed.
I took a quick peek at them; they're not really much cheaper than a fully assembled model. I'll likely buy a fully assembled gun in a few months to practice taking it apart and reassembling it. Maybe...
Gadfly, that's a pretty good lookin gun aside from the skid marks. I'd be happy to have it as a test model.
Gadfly, thank you for your input. I checked out think link you provided. Gun looks pretty good other than the skid marks. I'd be pleased to have it to disassemble and reassemble to get familiar with...
Centex, I hear your you well, but with my budget the Mil Spec is darn near a high end gun. I'm planning on buying Tisas when I have extra money.
My new Mil Spec arrived at my local gun shop today....
I don't doubt it. I watched a guy on YouTube disassemble a 7 rd and 8rd flush fit Colt mag. He measured their spring lengths and diameters. The 8 rd was quite a bit longer with a smaller diameter....
Yes, I may buy a Tisas 1911 as a practice model when I have some extra money
I wasn't aware Tisas sold build kits! Please tell me more about them. Have you purchased and built one?
Thank you...
You're right, especially the 1911. Many want to tear into them in an attempt to improve performance and/or reliability. I have no idea of success rate.
I agree entirely! Unless the seeker/researcher has some understanding of the subject he/she will have no idea if the presenter is a quack or FOS.
I'm referring to any and all topics, not just...
Wow, that's a great looking gun! Excellent find and purchase. Even though you bought some time ago, I think you made out like a bandit!
I have my hands full. The practice/tinker gun is many months in the future.
I'm not familiar with that gun, but a Beretta for 300 bucks sounds enticing.
Absolutely not, no power tools near firearms!
[QUOTE=RJ;1564036]Danko in addition to the excellent suggestions above, I participated heavily in the "Springfield Garrison" thread started in 2021. It might be worth a read:

Thank you! YouTube has become the new age university. Whatever we want to know, YouTube can provide it.
I'll be out of gun money for a while, so I won't be buying another gun anytime soon. I will...
I never attended a gun show. Around here, they're always promoted as "Gun & Knife" shows. I don't now if that's typical. I have to attend the next one near to me to see what goes on there and what...
Thank you all for chiming in with your experiences with different brands and models of magazines. I was suspect of 8 round, flush fit mags, you guys confirmed my suspicion. Of all the components that...
I was just thinking about the possibility of buying a 1911 .45 junker at a gun show to practice taking it completely apart and, of course reassembling it. Gun shows are rather infrequent in my...
The vast majority of you 1911 .45 guys are regularly shooting great volumes of ammo, competition I presume, so you're forced to replace mags and mag springs regularly to keep your guns running...
Mr. Robinson, you recall I'm the guy intending to buy a Springfield .45 Mil Spec. Great memory. I ordered it today and put down half the cost. My excitement rose another 5 notches. Yes, you made a...
So far the consensus seems to be 8 round flush fit magazines work fine when new, but soon become unreliable. That makes perfect sense as the lighter gauge spring required to fit 8 rounds in the space...
I'm still in the early phase of learning about the 1911 .45. I know, or think Colt makes 8 round flush fit mags, so I figured if Colt makes them, everyone else must make them too.
I just edited my post to say 8 round magazines that are flush fit.
I'd like to hear from 1911 .45 owners who use 8 round, flush mount magazines. Are they as reliable as 7 round mags? Are some brands more reliable than others? This isn't a consideration for a carry...
To add some clarification to my post. I think PF is a terrific site. It contains loads of information on a variety of topics. In the two years I've been a member I've learned a great deal about...
