My experience with the G48 was a lot more positive in many ways compared to the G43x. So far in our program to get more female shooters to actively train and carry in our locality, most prefer the...
G19 and G26 remain my go to guns . BUT having had excellent results with the G48, invluding many females who preferred carrying it vs G26. They also prefered the G48 over the G43x in terms of the way...
Another G48 carrier here. Found it much more comfy to shoot than than the G43 and also the G43X. It has not replaced my G26 or G19 but in my work attire did find the slimline seems to conceal better....
G19 Gen 5. Though I would be comfortable with a gen 3 or 4 to be honest. Dawson fibre sights. Bunch of spare mags . JM kydex holsters. Simple and effective setup .
A friend not too long ago bought a norinco Type 56. Whilst waiting for the paperwork, he bought reloading supplies, new cases etc. On the very first range outing, he recovered about 20 % of his...
Thanks for the input so far. Not in the state's , so it's literally a matter of booking it into the gunsmith and getting it done. No stamps etc.
Found the answers in this thread. Going ahead with a 14" setup. https://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?13230-Remington-870-18-quot-vs-14-quot-for-patrol
I have got an 870 I have been wanting to make for a close up in house Gun. Capacity isn’t a huge factor so not intending to put a big extension on. Do I give up much by reducing the length to 14” in...
My personal G48 has finally arrived. Silver slide version manufactured in 2020. Only 200 rounds so far, I found it "softer" shooting compared to the G43x. Testing it in a holster it carries really...
I have successfully run 147gr .flat point plated bullets in my Glocks. Nowadays I use coated 147gr with tite group, also no issues.
Bulk of my reloads have always been flat points.
Tried many different oils for the slide rails, these days I just use wheel bearing grease. Lasts just fine, one tub will last a very long time. Tried the branded greases, EWG etc, can’t say it...
Growing up, the 30-06 was by far the more popular choice. In the last 20 years, this is no longer the case and depending on the area, either is more popular .
Additionally, in sports shooting...
I found both the 150/165 TTSX as well as the GMX effective down to 2000fps. For continuous bang flop performance, the fragmenting type such as Berger work well IF you don't hit bone. We have limited...
From the African part of the world so have no experience with Elk and grizzly. But shot plenty large game (check the size of a bull eland)this side with my 308 over the years , it's still my primary...
I should have mentioned, this one is second hand from what I can see is one of the older production models. The price it's going at is what the Turkish new pump actions are going at. I briefly owned...
So I found an 870 special purpose, with 26” barrel at a great price. I’m considering taking it and having the barrel cut down to 18”. Any thoughts on the current state of the pump, seeing that it’s a...
I had very good use of a Lee classic turret when I started reloading, also loaded sub MOA rifle ammo there with no issues. I moved to a Dillon Xl550 and then moved again to a XL750. I loaded sub MOA...
Found one of these at a local auction. Worth bidding for?
Any experiences with a 44 lever action? Anyone did any form of hunting close up with one?
Appreciate all the replies. Just some more perspective. You will never find us walking in big 5 area without the 375 or bigger. If it's a group of us atleast one of us will be carrying the big bore...
Without wanting to start a new thread. My G26 gen 4 and 5 have been awesome. I find the Gen 5 a bit more picky in terms of my reloads and setup .
Gen 3 26s are going at a steal and I'm thinking...
In all my years hiking/hunting here, the 4 legged threats that required uses of a handgun were dogs, be it ferals or hunting dogs poachers use. I have yet to draw a handgun on any of the dangerous...
Thanks guys, reading the attached resources. The reality is when out hunting at least one of us has the 375h&h or larger with us. I have also deliberated whether a larger calibre semi auto than the...
It will be used when hunting. I'm out here in South Africa where the farm I frequently hunt has the big 5. Weight is not a huge consideration as it will be carried OWB. Though I'm not a very large...
The USP field pistol thread has a wealth of information. In my area, wheel guns are not all that popular as outdoorsman guns, hence the following question. What would the reccomended setup for a...
I use one. I had some 223 pass in a Lyman case gauge , that gave trouble in a tight AR chamber. This seems to be a tad tighter, if it passes this it will work.
