I'd want at least some magnification. A 1-4x or better if you find one that suits you.
I think you'll be pleasantly surprised how well it shoots. Mine in 300blk turned in some very good groups.

I've always figured "contact shots" were one of those things "operators" like to worry about that don't actually happen in real life. If my gun is out and pointed at the bad guy, it's already gone...
I think it's a very valid test. Many people advocate condition 3, but couldn't demonstrate a fast draw if you paid them. Sometimes just seeing what's possible is reason enough.
I've got a 507c, 2 507cV2s, and 2 510cs. All have been 100% flawless so far. Thousands of rounds on MKIIs, hundreds on G17, hundreds on 9mm AR.
I have zero interest in carrying empty, but my bedside gun is condition 3. It's a 3.25# Glock trigger stored on a hidden magnet mount. With the trigger uncovered it just makes sense to keep it empty....
