Not sure it matters. I am not aware of many failures due to lubrication nor am I aware of gun lifetime being impacted due to lubrication choices. Even in sandy SW FL, lube choices are not critical....
Closest I can find and would still require the white ring to be painted. https://shopruger.com/Mark-Series-Adjustable-Tritium-Night-Sight-Set/productinfo/12970/

That 22/45 sure is not compatible with the Aguila ammo. I am curious as to why and am wondering if the runout of the rounds is on the high side. Match ammo usually has runout about 0.002" to...
I see that the Woodsman bullet is copper, which suggests the bullet is hard enough to get through a heavy coat, a skull, and/or sternum. I am more likely to go with the Federal 240-grain "Solid...
No, I do not. For some reason, I have never felt the allure of the Colt SA revolvers.
As part of divesting myself of most of my collection, I unloaded both of my Clark Custom Ruger Standard pistols. One was the Aristocrat sight rib Standard, and the other was a Mark II wearing an...
Small radii or "square bottom" firing pin stops are not recommended for 9x19 1911-pattern pistols. The round is marginal on slide speed during cycling and reducing the slide's leverage on the...
A couple of reasons why the windows may not be lowered when the vehicle is partially flooded. Some designs, like my current 2017 Ford Taurus, have "wet doors". The vehicle design allows water into...
That magazine button was ideal for USPSA/IPSC competition, especially with 2011 pistols. Dave Dawson still sells the part. ...
That image suggests the barrel feet are striking the VIS in a pretty uniform fashion. I do not see an issue there. And the lack of a cut with that uniform contact is not an issue.
The smith that...
Does the frame have the proper "bowtie" as a result of the vertical impact surface (VIS) being milled so that barrel feet, not the link, stop the barrel travel? Example pic found by Google-fu below.
A few. A Kimber Warrior worked over by Chuck Rogers and Drake Oldham, a Nighthawk Heinie Tactical finished in NP3, a pair of Colt WW I commemoratives from 1967 and 1968, a pair of custom Norincos,...
This thread cost me some money. I have a large Sebenza with the Magnacut drop point blade coming at the end of the week and just got a new-to-me Umnumzaan with the S35VN tanto blade. One will...
May I ask if the pistol still has the loaded chamber indicator? If so, replacing it with the blank may help with the bolt cycling. The VQ extractor is pretty good, but Ruger had a run during MK III...
Keep an eye on the Volquartsen eBay store. I got mine for $60 as it was a "second". I cannot find the cosmetic flaw.
Here it is for $55. https://www.ebay.com/itm/226035558400
I saw it about three months ago but only because I needed a new bolt. https://volquartsen.com/departments/mk_iv_parts/inventory_configurations/6065
The ammo is standard velocity and should function just fine in a Ruger Standard pistol. More than one of mine has digested cases of it with no issues. The question is whether the ammo is the issue...
I wonder which flavor of Aguila Super Extra caused the issues. "Super Extra" is a line of ammo, with standard velocity and high-velocity variants, including lead and copper-washed round nose and...
I have been carrying a Chris Reeve Small Sebenza with a tanto blade for the past two decades. Works just fine for my needs, most of which are opening packages, stripping wire, and various small...
I have several cases left of the bonded Remington 230-grain Golden Saber round. I also have a few cases of the standard pressure 230-grain PMC StarFire. The latter is being consumed during range...
That is also where I would start. Dave Sams built Berettas for the US Army competive shooters and is very good at what he does.
I shoot a lot of .22 LR. Cases and cases of it through firearms ranging from a Winchester 52D to stock Ruger Standard RST6 models with ammo ranging from fifty-year old Federal to SK bought in 2023. ...
The Gemini Customs work will ruin one for a stock Ruger DA revolver. I got my first custom Ruger, a Mag-Na-Port Predator in 1991, and a Weigand "Tame the Beast" SP101 in 1995. Thought I knew good...
For a field revolver, a five-inch .357 Magnum is hard to beat. Of course, I am a fan of five-inch revolvers, including ones in .44-40 and .44 Magnum. A five-inch GP100 is great for everything...
