If it had been one of the .38s, I would have already PMed him. :)
I've never shot the old HydraShok. The current HS Deep ran 858 fps from my M49. From my 642, Ranger Bonded 130s went 830 fps and Golden Sabre 125s went 941 fps. Both Remington and Federal...
I'd go with the M&P. The 1.0s can usually be found as LE trade-ins for under $300 and don't suffer from the accuracy issues the 9x19 1.0s had. Magazines are relatively cheap too. I have an M&P40...
I had my gunsmith do the same, then I put on two coats of white and one of fluorescent orange.
The machining looks pretty cobby. Those grips are nice, though. Chambered in the "rare .357 Magnum" caliber.
Got it. I'd hate for you to change out those grips and grip adapter, they look so right on that gun! If we lived closer, I'd let you try some of my .38/44 factory duplication loads, a 170-grain...
^^^^Re: the .38/44, were you shooting the same bullet weight but with different ammo, or different bullet weight? That revolver is probably regulated for 158-grain bullets; if you were shooting the...
My 642 needs 130s to hit to POA while my M49 needs 148-158s. My fixed-sight K and L frames are regulated for 158s…except for my M10-5 4”, which needs 130s. My autoloaders are mostly agnostic.
Same here.
It sure looks like it’s regulated for the 85-grain load. Is there a lighter wadcutter out there that might bring POI down a bit?
Here. Nowhere near pristine, but looks decent for the price.
I realized I didn't include an autoloader.
Service auto larger than 9mm: Colt Series 70 Gubmint Model with a GI NM barrel and Bo-Mar rear sight...and no mag well.
ETA: ...and...
Revolver .38 Special or smaller
Usually a 3-4" K frame loaded with .38s. Occasionally a J frame; just got done with yard work and am carrying my 642-2.
Here. I've no use for them but some of y'all might.
It looks like it used to be a Baughman ramp until someone filed/machined most of the ramp off. I've never seen a M28 with those pins, might be an early one. It's obviously got some miles on it.
My favorite is the Five Yard Roundup. It tests four different skills in ten rounds. In terms of assessing pistol shootability, it tests how well the pistol comes up and indexes, how it handles...
Went to the range for a short session with my M19-3. I usually start with the Five Yard Roundup, and I did one cold and got a 95. I taped the holes and decided to try it again. That 98 is the best...
Ain't nuthin' there, Steph...
Mine are Columbia (thrift store - $5?) and Eddie Bauer (Sam's Club - $15).
That 4" is too clean. You need to make it look more like the 6.5". :)
I haven't been through this thread in a while, so please excuse a re-post if this is one:

I just did one run and ended up with a 267 using my 3" M10. I did make the times, including the string with the reload, so it wasn't a total loss.
FIFY. :)
But it beats the alternative. :)
