I went differently. 1915 Colt New Service. Custom fitted 3-1/2" Douglas barrel. Maintained the .455 chambering. Weighs 36 ozs. Same as 4-inch S&W K-frame .38 Special. Gives 724 fps with CIL-Dominion...
In .32 ACP and .380 I prefer FMJ because JHP bullets which are fragile enough to expand from barrels shorter than 3 inches fail to provide adequate penetration . Many of the common JHP loads do not...
Winchester is my carry load.. Bullet shape is more important than the velocity.
In .32 ACP the FNB 74- grain Euro load
Rimlock in .32 ACP is an issue in short rounds less than 0.95" which permit rounds to shuffle in the stack.
If cartridge OAL exceeds 0.95" there is no issue.
They feed JHP if ctg. OAL exceeds 0.95".
Prefer flat nosed FMJ to ensure adequate penetration over 14" in calibrated gel.
The best.32s are the double stack Berettas and the SIG P230 fed Euro Heavy (77-grain) ball. If OK with handoads assemble 93-grain FMJ .30 Luger, 7.62x25 Combloc steel core pulls or .309" diameter...
SIG P230 and 232 are more durable than Walther PP and PPk. No issues.
Purists do not care for the powder metal parts in the P232 but having used both I have zero concerns. Either are more durable...
I was lucky when I retired in 2011 and spent six weeks in Italy. My host was retired Col. of Carabinieri I had worked with on their M4 evaluation. He provided introductions to.Beretta, and Fiocchi...
The Grant Cunningham blog article is golden.
Military salt spray, sand, mud and dust tests are revealing.
Garand and M14 liked to run grease in salt spray, but desert dry.
M240, M9 and M4...
Priority for me was to find a pair of P230s in .380 and one in 7.65mm. The 7.65 P230.can be carried cocked and locked or is also drop safe with hammer down firing first shot DA and subsequent rounds...
I do not carry the M1934 in high threat environments. It is a woods companion and load test platform.
My .380 of choice for summer city CCW is a SIG P230. But my most common rural country EDC is...
Yes, I AM an "old school" gun writer,
After service in USN on NRA Tech Staff 1974-84, left NRA for Ruger Engineering Dept, 1984-87. Consultant to USMC Development Center on the M16A1E1, A2 and...
Roy Dunlap in Ordnance Went Up Front praised the M1934 as the most rugged and reliable of the WW2 era pocket pistols. The M1934 is simple and sturdy, having fewer parts than a US M1911 .45. It was...
The way I was taught by Carabinieri was that when carried in a secure flap holster chamber could be loaded and hammer set on half-cock notch. If not holstered off duty pocket carry is with empty...
I prefer the Berettas myself. I have the M1934 in .380, a 1935 in ..32' and a 948 in .22LR

Firing .32 S&W Long in the longer .327 chamber results in gas leakage around the bullet while it travels across the longer chamber length where the bullet is unsupported. The Magtech HBWC is more...
Did lots of testing with 231 when I was at Ruger. WAS the powder of choice!
Don't have the pressure-tested data but 3.5 grains was good full charge load with 85 XTP in .32 S&W Long brass and 4.5...
Did not test H110.
Alliant #2400 did not produce acceptable ballistic uniformity with large ES and SDs, loose groups and vertical stringing.
Overall the 3 grain Bullseye load with the 85 XTP...
Some tested .32 S&W Long "+P" data for use in S&W Models 30 and 31, post-1950 Colt steel D-frame and Ruger LCR and SP101 revolvers
Hornady 100 XTP .312" R-P case, CCI500, 8.5 grains IMR4227, OAL...
Mostly I am a wheelgun guy. But I own three 9mm Berettas, a couple dozen mags, 1000 147-grain Federal 9MS carry rounds and 5000 147 FMJ FN American Eagle for practice and training. No Glocks, SIGs or...
The Close Combat Files of Col. Rex Applegate include the firearms training syllabus used by the Military Intelligence Training Center at Camp Ritchie, MD during WW2 for the OSS. These basics were...
