Damn, that's too bad.
I originally thought I was just hopeless with iron sights. But then I realized I shot my P365XL than my larger guns with FO front sights.
Right. I might be in the exact same camp. I'm going to explore different combinations and see what works for me.
Thanks, I'll give that a try. The one I have the most trouble with is a green FO. I'll try going back to red to see if it helps.
It's still interesting though that it's odd to draw your eye at...
I have a number of guns with fiber optic fronts + blacked out rear sights (FO+BR). In theory, I love the setup. And when I shoot slowly and take my time aiming, I shoot them just fine.
...
Interesting thanks. I've emailed Federal to ask if they have a recommended velocity range for proper expansion.
If they say 900+ is good to go then I'm good to go.
Interesting thanks for posting that. Interestingly my HST's were purchased last week and have the identical box to that in the video, but they do not have the two dots that he said indicate the newer...
Just because a bullet is proven effective overall doesn't mean it is effective in every gun. Speer explicitly recommending not to use Gold Dot 124 in a 3" barrel is a perfect example.
Not to be a dick, but I'm not doing either of those things.
I am listening to the manufacturer and doing exactly what they have instructed. They told me to select the ammo that achieves close to...
Gotcha, thanks.
This was what I assumed and how it could do so well in all the short-barrel tests.
But then when I shot mine and it's travelling slower than the reported velocities in every...
Yes! The Sig P365XL has a 3.65" barrel and the CZ P01 has a 3.75" barrell, so 0.1" difference. But the CZ was regularly 20 FPS faster than the Sig for every ammo type I measured. I was also more...
You sure about that?
Hollow point ammo has a velocity range within which it is designed to operate properly. For example, standard pressure Speer Gold Dot 124 has a reputation of over-penetrating...
Numbers are the average of 5 (or sometimes more) shots, so I think that's legit.
However I didn't properly warm up the barrel. I would shoot one two ammos out of one gun then switch to another...
Today I chrono'd some ammo out of several guns with different barrel lengths.
The Speer Gold Dot 124 results make complete sense, and aligned with existing published numbers.
The Federal HST...
Oh damn, that's nice. Any more zoomed in photos?
You did that all by hand? Did you need to do 20 coats? I experimented with some Testors orange and it seemed extremely thin.
I find I really like a circle, rather than covering the whole sight. I find it makes it easier to get rapid alignment, then use the edges of the sight it self to fine tune.
So I bought this tape...
That's not bad at all. I don't see much chipping or peeling there.
That orange color doesn't exactly pop though. Maybe needs another coat? Or a brighter orange.
Thanks!
Have you tried it? I'd be a little worried about it chipping up all the paint touching it?
Yes! Thanks for this post. After doing some tests on other surfaces with paint I decided that a stick-on is probably the way to go.
The only dilemma is which tape to use. What green tape is that...
I have those and I like them, but don't love them. The front doesn't pop compared to the rear, especially since the rear has white rings also. In certain lighting it's fine but sometimes it's not as...
The problem with the TFX pro is its width The front and rear would both be 140.
It can work but I like more air tbs than that.
Oh wow, thanks.
The pics don't load for me though. Are they working for you?
Ha. Did you successfully avoid the tritium? Looking at a picture of those, it looks like they tritium is set in a bit more than on these.
I'm now wondering about Option 3: put a tiny round...
I bought some Dawson Precision Tritium night sights for my CZ P-01, and I'm not too excited about them. The front has a thin white ring that is OK but really doesn't stand out unless the lighting is...
Yeah why is there so little sight support for CZ's?
And yeah I want the night fission front but not if I can't find an appropriately wide rear
