What are acceptable scores for the Typewriter Drill?
Here are the standards I personally use:
IDPA - shoot Expert on 5x5 Classifier
5x5 (5 shots in a 5" circle in 5 seconds) - do it 5X in a row
Draw from concealment & place a shot in a 5" x 8" index...
Thanks for the comments on my post. I would never make anything part of my EDC without practicing & proving it on the range. So, I decided to try using a G17 mag with my G19. It didn't go well. When...
In his Nov post showing his EDC gear, TLG mentioned he carries a G17 mag as a backup for his G19. Has anyone else tried this?
Great AAR Eric. Definitely one of the best classes I've been to as well. My round count was 740 for the two days. Enjoyed shooting next to you - impressed with the new HK VP9. Tom's reload process...
Why are you focused on ejection patterns? I recommend you don't worry about ejection until empty cartridges start staying in the chamber or feed area and causing malfunctions. Glock owners are too...

The above link is a pic of the DT2C Target. I'm looking for ideas of drills to run with it. I currently am using for the Givens 21 drill. I...
Thanks, I'm aware of the normal lube points recommended by Glock. It's my understanding that Militec also serves as a metal conditioner and could possibly be applied to more areas.
Todd, could you or someone else walk through how you would use Militec on a Glock - areas you would use it on.
I seldom shoot indoors anymore unless the weather is bad for a couple of weeks in a row. I prefer to be outside where I can practice drawing, reloading and concealment. My question is (for Todd and...
Was able to run Caleb's drill today during my practice session in Hamilton, OH. Warmed up with shooting some DEA Dots @ 3, 5 & 7 yds from holster and then set up a PT Target (used the 3x5 as the 6"...
Great Summary - Excellent Class!
Final FAST Drill of the two days was my best - 7.32 with a 1 sec penalty for my last shot miss on the 8" circle (damn!). Very disappointed that I'm still sitting on...
I went out to the range today and ran the 5^5 drill that was in the recent USCCA magazine. Ran with a Glock 19 (115gr FMJ) at 7 yards. Since I usually warm up with a DEA Dots target I ran the drill...
Traded some emails with Alan Dugger, owner of Sprinco. Here are his comments on the product. "The difference in perceived recoil is a secondary objective in our design. Perceived recoil is totally...
Put about 200 rounds through G19 today with Sprinco recoil reduction system installed. Shooting 115 gr FMJ ammo. Started and ended range session out with regular spring/guide rod for comparison. No...
I'm interested in comments regarding first-hand experience with the Sprinco Recoil Management Guide Rod System. I'll be running some range tests on a unit I just purchased for my G19 (3rd Gen). Todd...
Received four boxes of the new Critical Duty 9mm 135gr +P round from Midway USA ($22.99/box - 20/box). Fed fine through my G19. I "test" my carry ammo by shooting into 4 gallon jugs of distilled...
The purpose of my posting the question wasn't to "draw down on Duane". It's my understanding that he's a Master class IDPA shooter. I would just like to hear other's thoughts on his comment.
In an article titled "Intensive Handgun Skills: Speed Shooting Practice Drills" that was published in the Feb/March issue of US Concealed Carry Magazine, the author Duane Thomas states "my own...
Attended the Speed Kills & Get Some class in Indy in Sept. Shot FAST of 10.22 After some serious work on my press out and switching to a DeltaPoint optic on my G19 I shot 6.56 today. Consistently...
I have two G19s - one with grip reduction by Bowie Tactical and one with Boresight. Both are great guys. Prefer the Bowie Tactical stippling - rougher, better grip. I have a smaller hand and grip...
Todd, one of the things that impressed me at the training in Indy this fall was how smooth your reloads are. I would like to develop a solid dry fire drill for practicing reloads. I recently read...
