What type of environment/conditions will you be hunting whitetail in? I ask because a good amount of what you're asking about might be superfluous depending on the answer.
Caveat: I wouldn't call...
Works well for me when you surround it with an 8 moa circle.:D
I had a Barrett Fieldcraft in 6.5 Creedmoor, which is the same pattern as these rifles. Loved the light weight (5lbs 4oz bare, IIRC) and accuracy (.75 MOA 5 shot group my first time out with hornady...
I do realize that, which is why I said a fast twist .243 win barrel is the way to go, IMO.
Toonces is right though. The article in question is 14 years old, 6.5 CM offers a massive amount of stellar brass and factory load options, and has a case design to make better use of a short action...
8 or 7.5" twist .243 win if you really want to stick with the .308 case family. Light recoil, and tons of high BC 6mm bullets out there now that also perform well on game. Keeps you from getting...
Looks pretty cool, it's twisted correctly for heavier match type bullets, stock design looks nice, integrated ARCA rail on the foreend is sweet. I do wonder how many people are gonna buy this, go elk...
Doesn't really look like it's any better. It's not that the gun is unusable or anything, but it wouldn't cost them any money to have a stock with a heel in line with the bore.
These are really too...
The support from your shoulder is below the path of the recoil, pivoting the stock up into your face as it recoils and making it more difficult to spot your own shots.
Totally my opinion, I think...
Lots of good features.... Then the stupid drop at the heel of the stock.
Not terribly light, only in .308, ergonomics look awful for actually shooting. It is compact I guess. Seems like a pretty niche product.
When do the advantages of a 6.5 creedmoor vs a .308win (shooting higher bc bullets at greater velocity with less recoil) disappear? Do they disappear at all?
Pretty sure Barnes counts any expansion at all, but if you're looking for advice caliber expansion, the threshold is much higher. I've heard numbers from 2200-2400.
147gr ELDMs are quite...
I'll say it's not for me...then I reconsider when rifle hunting here in CO and am out in single digits.
I did have to chuckle at a post on another forum where a guy talked about how his 7 PRC with...
No thanks, I'll take a laser rangefinder 10/10 times. I do not know the precise size of each deer/elk/antelope/bear I look at through a scope.
So if I approach a moose on a logging road from...
At what distance is it allowed to be called hunting?
Impressive!
I'd love to have that much sage for more cover. Where I hunt is grass that's mostly been grazed down to the root by cattle. I've crawled on my belly, pushing my pack in front of me,...
I've quite enjoyed the ones I've had. I'm also shooting them in areas with less sage and more grass and ag croplands, and it's a December season so heat isn't usually an issue.
Wind is definitely...
....agreed. Never said anything different.
Pushing an animal isn't something I've ever heard of as a good idea. In archery hunting it's a great way to create a rodeo. Then again, I'm not shooting animals in the leg at 700 or whatever.
Some...
Nice to see one little cog in the evil no fault divorce machine get a tiny bit of justice.
The stock looks pretty well designed at first glance, more vertical grip, negative comb, just wish there wasnt the monte carlo style drop at the heel.
Looks like a Blaser R8 that doesn't have some...
I've been looking for something to replace my RMR on a Staccato P, and like some of the updates they've done, but I don't know if I can stomach these prices vs shelling out the money for a new plate...
Hit 2k rounds through my staccato P (DLC threaded barrel and whatever they call the rougher texture). I had 3 or 4 malfunctions in the first 200, all on the last round of the same magazine(17rd...
