Today, I fired a couple of new ammo types through my Tank Commander.
The first were some generic remington HPs. I got these from ammo I've been recycling. I'd obtained about six hundred rounds...
When I put Cylinder & Slide sear springs in my two pistols, it drooped the triggers to well below three pounds. Adjustment (bendage) of the left and center legs of the springs cured that. These are...
To add some clarification to my post. I think PF is a terrific site. It contains loads of information on a variety of topics. In the two years I've been a member I've learned a great deal about...
Nope
Wait for it........
Jesus.
Nice. That's my next one.
Something like a Griffin & Howe sporter would be a grail gun for me.
My cost for reloading 9mm is still a 25-30 percent savings over factory ball. One or two more price increases and that will disappear. One reason to continue is, at this point I trust my handloads...
Oh, that's nice. I love old '03 sporters when properly done. The Lyman rear sight is an added plus.
Yes, the Commander was originally designed around the 9mm, for military pistol trials that wound up being aborted. A year after its introduction onto the commercial market Colt include .45acp and...
A Spruance was not a "tin can". Anything the size of a cruiser doesn't qualify.
You may be right. If you're afraid to turn a screw or replace an o-ring, niether one is probably for you.
I bought that for decades. There may have been something to that. I don't know, since I was fully entrenched with the holy caliber I never bothered. Then about ten years back I bought my first one....
This cannot be emphasized enough. Fan boys have done a great job of turning a seminal, reliable design into a hot mess. You'll find a lot of gunsmiths on social media, professional and otherwise. ...
Winner, winner, chicken dinner.
Watch repair kit. You can find them on Amazon usually under $20. The tool on the left is a case back wrench
I've found the pry tool at the bottom right, with the yellow handle, to be ideal for the task.

The only research you need to be doing is for some sexy grips for your new gat. :)
The pistol you intend to purchase isn't a tightly fitted custom affair. Just lube it up a go shoot it.
Honestly, i think this titanic level of research you're doing, while commendable, is...
Are your sights dovetailed? If so, he might accept the sight alone for replacement. I sent him the front sight on my CZ1911A1 for such.
Since I have now replaced every spring in these two pistols, I can recommend that.
Recoil spring: no problems encountered, but seems too short and non-quality.
Firing Pin spring: replaced as a...
Unfortunately, that also includes the front sight. The mortise in which the sight rests isn't standard spec either. This requires reshaping the sights tenon. This is all covered upthread.
Almost forgot: I haven't been impressed with the quality of Tisas springs. Recoil springs seem a bit crude in their finishing and the sear springs are a bit soft. I haven't run into any safety...
