Asking for advice:
If you were looking for a local 'ammo deal' on 9mm brass-cased range / training ammo, what is the least worst option?
I'm not currently able to order and accept delivery from my favorite on-line ammo suppliers. I have a training class next month, so I am on the hunt for local options to pick up 500-800 rounds of acceptable quality brass-cased training ammo.
I've looked at WalMart, and came across the Federal 115 'Champion' brand. Further research would seem to point to it being aluminum cased, which I would not prefer. Other WalMart options are WWB, which appears to be my most ubiquitous / acceptable option at this point.
I have not bought ammo locally in 2-3 years.
Any tips or suggestions ya'll can share would be appreciated.

Rich,
I have shot both the aluminum Federal 115 (1000ish) and the Perfecta 115 (500ish) from WM at 9.99 a box for the past year or so thru my Glock 34 with no issues at all. The Federal is softer shooting than the Perfecta (which looks and feels just like Fiocchi BTW)
Both will hold the black on a B8 at 25 if I do my part ( that however, is another issue) .
If you want the brass for reloading etc., I get that, but I have no qualms about shooting the aluminum Federal. I have to date drawn the line at steel cased as well as Russian ammo.
If you have a Scheels or Academy, nearby, you might be able to find other brass cased stuff in the 9.99 @50 pricepoint as well.
The Federal Champion I have is brass, not aluminum. I've fired it without issue and still have some in my inventory
The Winchester white box from walmart is also acceptable. I've had no malfunctions with it either and it's usually available at reasonable prices.Quote:
Federal Champion 9mm Luger 115 Grain Full Metal Jacket ammo review offers the following information; The Champion line of ammunition is Federal's least expensive range and training loads. Still designed with the same standards as any of the Federal ammunition, the Champion line includes extremely affordable brass cased ammo while delivering match quality performance that all shooters have come to expect with the Federal name. This Federal Champion 9mm Luger is loaded with a 115 grain Full Metal Jacket copper plated bullet, meaning it’s thinner than the traditional jacket, and is closed on the bottom side. Designed for the competition shooter, the Full Metal Jacket match bullet creates an accurate and reliable round that loads quickly to get back on target. Completely enclosed in copper, not allowing for any lead to be exposed, makes this Champion round a winner at the indoor ranges. Federal Champion 9mm Luger is non-corrosive, new production ammunition in boxer primer and reloadable brass cases.
^^^ Great! Thanks guys.
