Modern Samurai Project Black Belt Patch Standards
I couldn't find a thread where we discussed or ran this. I had a chance to run it today for the first time and man is it a tough standard. It was a challenging and fun test! Going in I was pretty sure I am not quite there as far as hitting the black belt pars, but figured actually running it would give me a feel for how fast I need to be. So the actual standards are as follows (copied from the site) -
1. 3&2 Drill. 3 yards. 3 shots to the COM Alpha then transition to 2 rounds on a 3x5 card in the head box. Par is 2.0 seconds.
2. 1 Shot Drill @ 7 yards. 1 shot to COM Alpha. Par is 1.0 second.
3. Bill Drill. 7 yards. 6 shots to COM Alpha. Par is 2.0 seconds.
4. 1 Shot Drill @ 25 yards. 1 shot to COM Alpha. Par is 1.5 seconds.
Pretty tough standards in general, and from concealment at that. I only made one of the standards(string 1) and barely so. But I learned some areas of improvement(need to fix my 25 yard draw(more modulation, less herky-jerky nonsense), grip was sloppy on the bill, etc....but it was an absolute blast running this and I will be incorporating it into more of my live fire sessions and recording it on my performance tracking log. Here is what I did today -
M&P 2.0 5" from a Henry Holsters aiwb under a fleece
1. 3&2 - 1.99 clean(barely caught the 2nd 3x5 hit)
Attachment 38043
2. 1 shot drill @ 7 - 1.04 clean(high left in the A but in none the less, albeit OT)
Attachment 38044
3. Bill drill - 2.22 -3c's (sloppy. 2.22 is a great time for me, but I pulled 3 out side the A and it was a generally poor run. I need to run the no fail bill and clean this up)
Attachment 38045
4. 1 shot drill @ 25 - 1.54 -1c (a very low mike. I just shoved the gun out and the front sight dipped. I need to work on my modulation and coming to a clean stop when the shot breaks versus jamming the gun out)

So, I know where I am at today, and where I want to be. All that's left is to work on it and get there. Anybody else running this? Where are you at? Hitting the goals? Close? Not even?
