I know what Joe used to soak the handles. It is killer and it needs to be cut off the knife with a powered cutter if you ever want to remove it. The benefit is you should never need to remove it, it absolutely protects the handle area and under it from any sort of corrosion and as stated before you can clean it efficiently with hydrogen peroxide. I love his handles. He does great G10 for those that don’t like the wrap.

I bought the top one about 20 years or so ago, it's probably my favorite knife. I think they were discontinued in the early or mid 2000's. I haven't been too rough with it because it really isn't designed for really hard use and because they don't make them anymore. I came across someone selling a used one on Amazon for $50 and jumped on it. Now I can take it out a use it and I don't have to be paranoid about something happening to my favorite knife.
