Being young, and adventurous, there seemed to be scads of girls/women that liked to ride and be adventurous. Scads. I passed on most of the party stuff after a brief flirtation with drinking in my teens, just loved to ride and see the country in Az. I rode Harleys from about 1977 to the mid/late 80s. 20-25,000 miles a year on average after moving to Az. Cross country a couple times a year, ALL over Az. many times wed be in Flag thinking "What are we gonna do...?" The usual correct answer was "Lets go to Sedona and get gas". If you've ever driven that road, youll understand why. From there, it could be all over the Verde, back to Flag, or some other place, just to be going. This was work nites. Id drag in after midnight, go to sleep, get up and go to work, and after work, it was "What are we gonna do....?" Weekends was usually a trip somewhere to camp and see more stuff.
Theres many aspects of what may be termed motorcycle culture. I dealt with all types working at a bike shop, but the people I rode with mostly didn't drink, just loved to ride. We probably looked a little wooly, but weren't outlaw types.
