Should work out the same. The barrel/front sight of an Airweight is stainless steel.

Did one of mine last night with a single cut generic file I found in the garage, no vice. Didn't take as long as you'd think.


I would HIGHLY recommend getting files that have safe edges though, as that would have made for a much easier and more finished installation (did it on my range beater first, will get safe edge files before I do my carry).

I have a 360PD that came with the red FO sight and I like the big dot enough I am contemplating one for the pinned front sight, and noticed they now make orange and yellow (both pinned and glue on, and plan to discontinue the white:

First comment is: why on God's green earth does S&W persist in putting crap front sights on any of their revolvers?

When I was faced with the same problem as all of you I talked to my gunsmith and he suggested doing a dovetail front sight install on my 642. Here's the result:

It's an XS Standard Dot, with a Novak dovetail. I'm not that big a fan of Tritium anymore and this sight won't fade over time.
