For what it's worth, if the ortho isn't doing anything except throwing OTC meds at you, I'd ask for a referral to PT if that is something you can access affordably. Not sure another MD will be very helpful to you.
I had bad patellofemoral syndrome (wastebasket diagnosis for a bum knee) and had a lot of success working with them. YMMV. Otherwise, ditto to everything YVK said.

And Neph, agree on OTC stuff. Doc has had me on diclofenac before for a short time, and has given me a shot or two. But going PT route for now; have appt this Friday. Would prefer that to reading warning labels.
