New Match with a Twist, and a Cause

Hello to all my lovely PF family!

I wanted to announce a new match that we will be hosting in New Mexico In early November. This match is going to be a benefit match, and also a ProAm match. As far as we are aware, the first Sanctioned IDPA Match of its kind.

I hope you can come out and join us, and we always need sponsors. The more we get sponsored the more we can give away to our charities. We have a pretty good network of social and local so we hope we can offer sponsors a good return on their generous natures.

Here is the match synopsis:

Match Objective:

In response to increasing negative publicity and public opinion, we, the New Mexico Shooting Community wanted to stage a public event that showed solidarity and support for the citizens that are also defenders of the public at large. The Inaugural New Mexico IDPA Blue Line Pro Am will be a benefit match that will allow civilians a chance to let our officers and soldiers know that we have their back, while participating in a sport we all love.

About the Match:

This core purpose of this match will be to further community relations, and display community support for our Military and Law Enforcement Agencies. In addition all match proceeds will be donated to two local NM charities. One that benefits Law Enforcement, and one that benefits Military. It is intended to make this an annual match to be held in central New Mexico in the late October, early November time frame.

Match Structure:

The match will be governed by the International Defensive Pistol Association. All IDPA rules and match requirements will be met. We have obtained special permission to have a Pro Am, team component to the match. Each competitor will shoot for an individual score, but will also have to option to participate in a two man team, one "pro" and one amateur.* We are identifying a pro as a member of military or law enforcement, active or retired, or a Master Class shooter. Additional awards will be given for team performance.

The match will consist of 12 stages. Eight of the stages will be scenario based, two will be short drill stages that are based of LE Agency drills, and two will be standards. This match will be Tier 3.

The match will be conducted on a Friday and Saturday, one day format for shooters at Del Norte Gun Club in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. The dates will be November 2 -3, 2018. SO and Staff shoot on Friday the 2nd and Competitors on Saturday the 3rd.

Ten-82 was founded in 2008 by Law Enforcement from Rio Rancho Police Department and the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office determined to help fellow public servants and currently assist Police, Fire, and Military personnel when they find themselves in times of hardship due to illness or injuries.

Ryan started his law enforcement career in 1997 originally with the City of Rio Rancho Department of Public Safety where he served as a patrol officer and a was a member of the Gang Enforcement Team. In 2002 Ryan laterally transferred to another Albuquerque Metro Police Department where he served all three area commands and is a Field Training Officer, he became a member of the Emergency Response Team in 2004, was selected as the Drill Instructor for the Regional Academy Class 25. In 2006 Ryan left patrol work and became a Violent Crimes Detective and in 2008 moved to the Homicide Division. Ryan was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in June 2009.
Ryan became involved in fund raising efforts after learning that that a co-worker, Deputy Shannon Key was diagnoses with terminal brain cancer. Ryan started the annual “Guns and Hoses” softball tournament. Due to the success that was achieved during this event Ryan was approached on several different occasions in an attempt to organize additional fund-raisers for different causes at which time a need was recognized to have monies on hand in times of emergencies.
