A one handed 22 match

Since my right shoulder is a mess since a car accident and the doc (an IDPA shooter said to take it easy), I decided to shoot the match with my Buckmark. It's a http://www.browning.com/products/fir...nless-urx.html

I shot it with my left hand only. I can reload with both but absorbing recoil and holding my usual 1911 or Glock in standard position was a not a good idea.

I won my division (being the only 22 competitor!). The gun was so easy to shoot. While heavy at 34 OZ, I have reasonably strong hands so that was not a problem. Recoil is trivial. The front fiber optic was quite visible in TX daylight. Points down were 15 for the match - 5 stages. Should have been lower except for one bad target with 7 down. Time not so hot but I'm a slow old toot anyway. I trundle between firing positions.

Takeaway - it was fun! What about 22 LR for self-defense? Oh, no - not again. Hey, if I were unable to shoot a more powerful gun as I get older than I am, I wouldn't hesitate to use this guy. It would be better than geezer hand to hand.

Only one jam on the first mag and then the gun settled in.

Other fun points. My friends told me to sit, so I avoid a bit of taping. However, I did pitch in.

Whose gun didn't run? A Kimber with handloads (what else is new). That was fixed with a bag of 45 ACP Blazer Aluminum from another shooter.

I toyed with getting one of the those 22s that look like a service gun but why? This one runs. I found a left handed holster for it and a mag pouch. It would be a pain for an EDC though. There are more compact models.

I might try next week with a one handed Glock 17 run.
