I line up the tops of my sights, and use the dot in the front sight to find and track my front sight, not to align it with anything. Unless you are concerned with shooting in lighting conditions that won't enable you to see the tops of your sights, what's the allure of dot over dot?
I'm a big fan of the Ameriglo CAPs and T-CAPs. I used to like the Ameriglo I-dots, until I discovered the CAPS.
FWIW I have found the green paint on the CAP fronts is not consistent from sight to sight. My Shield has a CAP front sight that is so bright you can see it can space. The rest of my CAP fronts of similar vintage are just so-so bright.
