I'd heard a similar rumor that a ultra compact .380 was on the way from Glock USA. If so, my response is a hearty "meh."
If it's a ultra compact 9mm that can compete, size wise, with the PM9, then I'm interested. Otherwise, I'll stick with my Kahr...

Snooze.
Wake me up when Beretta re-imports the Steel I.
If it's a single stack 9mm I will eat my shorts.
And then promptly run out and buy two of them.
If it's a Gen4 single stack 9mm, Shield size, i'm in.
We had a visit from the local area Glock rep a few weeks ago, at the lab. Without coming right out and saying so, he indicated that a new, micro-compact (?) pistol would be unveiled at S.H.O.T. in January.
There was a 9mm Shield on my bench; he pointed to it and said "We should make something like that."
Naturally, I leaped to the conclusion that it would be the long-awaited single stack 9mm, and my heart went all a-flutter. In retrospect, I'm betting he thought that the Shield was a small .380, and that was what he was hinting at.
I'll echo the thoughts of others here… if it is indeed a .380, then pardon me while I yawn. If its a 9mm… then they will have my attention.
.
Aside from more consistent QC?
Its the trigger, man. The Kahr guns have triggers that are sufficiently different- via the long reset stroke- to "mess" with my programming. I had a P45; much a handful with "real" ammunition, but quite pleasant to shoot with my bullseye reloads. The problem was that I consistently short-stroked the trigger, being used to Glocks and the HK LEM. I wasn't allowing the trigger to go forward far enough.
That's the only reason I don't have a P9 today.
For the past six months, I have been searching, in vain, for a smaller/lighter concealed carry piece in 9mm that I'm comfortable with. Not interested in a .380. The Shield initially looked promising, but alas, after a pretty thorough run with it; nope.
Common sense tells me to get a P2000SK and be done, but I'm waiting until I see what Glock and HK have coming before I commit to that. Yes, I have a Glock 26, and carried it for a while in plain clothes some years back. It would do in a pinch, but I prefer the LEM system. However, if Glock is going to make that dream 9mm, then it's smaller width will trump the LEM; assuming I like the rest of the pistol.
Jesus… I feel like my wife selecting a freaking pair of shoes...
.
Not sure. I prefer the Glock trigger over the Kahr trigger, though, so that might be an improvement. I also prefer the Glock pricepoint and accessory availability - though the former is largely negated by the fact that I have a PM9 and a ton of magazines already.
But, let's not fool ourselves, if it says "Glock" on the side, sight-makers, holster-makers and others will fall all over themselves to start cranking out options for accessories. For the Kahr, it's what you see is what you get WRT sights, at least...

Hmmm. My gut says .380, but I have nothing to go on besides having lived for a while and seen lots of Glock speculation over the years. If they go micro .380, they'll have the same reliability issues to overcome as everyone else.

If it's indeed a "G42" then it makes sense that it might be the smallest in a family of guns in a different caliber. Although I can't imagine why they'd want to make 3 sizes of gun in .380. It would be pretty funny though if the "Glock 40" became a full-sized .380. Maybe rappers would buy those instead.
If the G40 and G41 were Shield/PPS competitors in 9 and .40, respectively, then I could forgive the G42 being an even smaller .380...
9mm GAP...new caliber to make sure we don't give the public what they want. Although rumor has it that maybe the .45 everyone wanted a long time ago may be coming at SHOT.
I told them years ago to make the GAP guns in .40S&W, they even had the 40 model number lined up for a new .40 pistol. Would make sense they don't fix what they are already making and copy what everyone else is doing.
Although I would buy two single stack 9mm micro Glocks if they made them.
1) Given that Glock makes a 22 in .40, it saddens me that they're passing on the opportunity to spur endless "Who's On First?" gags at gun stores across the nation by offering the Model 40 in .22.
2) Starting with the Model 30, Glock's been batting about... what, .500? ...on new model intros without serious teething issues.
Too bad it wasn't the Glock Carbine we've all been speculating about for a few decades.
I have a hard time believing it would be a .380 only due to the lack of a US market Glock 28.
If it is a .380 pistol I have no interest. If it is a 9mm pistol I am very interested.
An SBR that took 9mm glock mags would be a dream.
Every year around SHOT these dumb Glock rumors pop up and every year they're not true.
Not anymore, really, but they probably question its sales viability in markets where it would be competing head-to-head against the identical 26.
If I'm not mistaken, the 25 and 28 were specifically targeted at the Brazilian market, which placed a .380/.38 Spl ceiling on handgun cartridges.
Some folks on Reddit came across this, G41 is a 5.3" barrel .45acp.
Since I have precisely...zero...problems carrying my G19 concealed (and can very comfortably carry my G17, G21, and G34 similarly), I have absolutely ...zero...interest in any .380 from Glock, or anyone else for that matter from a practical standpoint.
A single-stack 9mm or .45 ACP could be another matter altogether, however...
Best, Jon
Two new Glocks are coming out at SHOT. One is a long slide .45ACP. The other is supposedly a pocket pistol.
The U.S. market Glock guys were pushing a .22lr, but the folks in Ostereich wouldn't go for it.
Right. Like I said, so long as they're introducing a G34 length .45, I'd like to see that paired with a single stack magazine, as opposed to the wide G21 frame. Adding 3/4 inch length to the G21 alone isn't that appealing to me, though the appeal for competitors is obvious.
I can't imagine Glock breaking tradition but what if they pulled a Springfield and produced a small single stack in three different calibers? Would that justify the 4X designation for a new model line?
I didn't think that comment through very well. What I was trying to say is if they are going to build a single stack I would think they would offer it in multiple calibers like the 26/27. I would personally be very interested in a single stack 26. It would be a double bonus if they could make it a 6 round magazine with length and height staying the same.
It appears to be the size of a 26 or a 27 in the shadowy image behind the lighter.

hope its a new .42 caliber to take up the slack between the .40 and the .45
If they make a Longslide 45 with a 30S width slide....
I will not buy a glock, I will not buy a glock, I will not buy a glock...
I didn't even notice that before. Good eyes!
I just bought a blue label Gen 4 30 yesterday. Can't wait to get to the range with it. A Gen 4 single stack 26 would look really good next to it.
To tell you the truth, a thinner version of a 26 would be very cool. I haven't found a single stack that I shoot really well yet but I really get along well with the 26. The XDs comes very close but I've jumped off the bad wagon a little bit on that one.
I don't know how they would do it but making a one inch wide 26 would probably corner the market on small nines.
Glock has about a million ways to disappoint people with this one. I hope they don't screw it up.
