Not necessarily. Anything that draws eyes away from belt line can help. Gun position is irrelevant... well unless you put your distraction device where your gun rides.Quote:

I actually used the open fly, shirt pulled through the zipper, acting like a mentally challenged individual selling subscriptions for something or other to get a bad guy to open his door and give me a peak inside the residence before we served a warrant.Quote:

Greg does a good job explaining how to manage the perception / attention of others.

My limited experience is that criminal apex predators recognize people dangerous to them, and the recognition does not require a gun to print. Some people radiate in a threatening manner, and it is not hard to notice if one is reasonably aware of the environment. Predators recognize other predators and usually prefer easier prey.
Interesting written piece. My take is that it’s directed primarily at those fairly new to concealed carry and/or those who are free to dress extremely casually on a frequent and regular basis.
Columbia style fishing shirts are great cover garments for hot weather areas.
It wouldn’t surprise me a bit if he turned out to be a cross dresser in his free time.
huh. I actually own that unicorn reaper shirt and a similar design (also on a shirt) is my av here... i was laughing when i saw it being worn in the article.
As he notes, women have learned to dress to try to draw the eye to what we want you to see and away from what we don't. One thing is, though, if we are trying to conceal from super expert apex predators predating predatorily, aren't they gonna know not to be distracted by a woman's chest or some dude wearing a libertarian quote t-shirt or whatever else?
Isn't the actual goal in part just to be lawfully armed and not draw attention from the vast majority of people people most of the time, understanding that some better trained, more observant people are gonna see and know but that they aren't usually the ones you need to worry about?

This is clearly a legitimate topic because it comes up frequently on every gun forum that I read and almost invariably every time it does somebody says "People are so busy with their iPhones and their devices that they're not paying attention to you and most of them won't even notice."
I'm not worried about the 99% who have their faces buried in their iPhones, I'm worried about the 1% who is paying attention and does know what to look for.
It's not even strictly in the context of carrying a gun but I try to dress in a way that allows me to just blend into the crowd. I've said it before but I try to look like a bean in a pile of beans.
I don't own bright colored clothes and my t-shirts don't say anything on them. I do try to wear a hat that contrasts with the rest of my outfit but that's about it.
I don't know if it's because I look like a bum myself but I have noticed several times that panhandlers will go around me to ask somebody behind me for money. So maybe I'm doing something right

Perused Greg’s article yesterday, gave some good ideas I’ll try to put in to use when I can. May not help much though. I usually get pegged as LE/Mil because of how I walk/carry myself.

I regularly meet with executive level people in government and industry. I often wear very high quality silk guayabera shirts. They cost a bloody fortune (generally about $150 a pop), but I've never felt under-dressed. Although I am fortunate though that for the rare occasion where I do occasionally have to wear a button down we have top notch security.Quote:
