More minor duration testing
All of my PX4 Storm 45 G pistols continue flawlessly. I did try some new duration tests... so to speak.
I am still shooting ~600 rounds per week.
I had mentioned that I moved my Storm 45 range pistol #1 to being loaded all the time as a back-up at home. It went 9 months with no maintenance, no relubing and only removed the chamber round twice in the 9 months for a day or two. As I mentioned, the single extractor spring has over 110,000 rounds on it. I took it to the range without prepping anything and put 100 rounds through it. It performed perfectly, smoothly and efficiently. I tested all functions, including firing pin hit and all was perfect. I also went 12,000 rounds with my Storm 45 range pistol #2 without any detailed cleaning and no solvent anywhere. Usually I have to clean it by 8k-9k, but have pushed for 10k. It continued working well and reliably, though. I found some build-up and some real dirtiness that was a demonstration of how this pistol can run without maintenance for so long. 45s usually run 3x as much carbon, goop and dirtiness than 9mm.
My EDC Storm 45 G gets minor maintenance. Every 6-8 weeks (depending on atmospheric humidity) I field strip, clean and relube. Every year it gets a new guide rod assembly and donates the old one to the range pistols. Every 2 years I do a detailed disassembly and cleaning (checking for lint or dried lube) and relube, reassemble. It has been on duty for about 8 years.
Pistol round counts: Range #1, 143,200
Range #2, 65,800
EDC 3,000
