I hate to say it and I know how hypocritical it sounds based off how much money I’ve spent on knives, but, as far as fixed blades go, a Mora companion is pretty much the best $15 you can ever spend and all you really need. I bought all the kiddos their own for Christmas and used one for the first time the other day. I’m ashamed of how good they work and how much I still want other knives.

That was one of my favorite shirts, other than it happened to be about 3” longer than most of my others. Maybe not anymore…

I guess Joe Watson makes a pretty sharp knife. Too bad I wasn’t able to procure a trainer for it [emoji1787]
Anyone looking for an inexpensive small fixed blade for reverse grip defensive use might want to look at the Cold Steel Kyoto. This is a cheap knife ($20-$30), but it seems sturdy and it takes a good edge. Unfortunately, it is made in China. Note that it is available with an American tanto point (pictured), or a straight point that looks a bit like a Japanese tanto.
The handle has a gentle swell, which actually fits the hand better with the edge in than in a conventional grip with the edge out.

The handle is short, but the tacky rubber and rounded protrusions on the sides help to lock it in place.

The sheath is excellent; retention is firm without obstructing the handle. Gutted paracord makes a nice static line.

Here it is set up for forward grip, edge in, AIWB (or RGEI with the other hand).

I agree, it's a pretty decent blade for a mere $20 ....
