Comp-II speedloaders seem to work with the factory grips, so that’s one less potential problem.
Finally got to the range today with the Wilson Combat sights. I did need to put the factory front sight back on which took only a few seconds, the Harrison front was as expected a little too tall... eventually I'll get a WC front when they're restocked.
The rear sight is as previously noted very solid, no movement at all, and gives a good sight picture. Worst thing I can say is that the elevation screw is a bit stiff, although the windage screw turns more easily. Overall I'm really happy, this fixes the one serious weakness.
I backordered a Wilson rear and it shipped in less than two weeks, despite the website saying out of stock the whole time.
I have a 2.75" Model 66-8 and a Python 3" so here goes:
Fit and finish: Python wins.
Double-action trigger pull: Python.
Single-action trigger pull: 66-8.
Front sight replaceability: Python (secured by a set screw instead of a roll pin.)
Rear sight: 66-8 with OEM sights, Python with Wilson sights.
Accuracy out-of-the-box with .38 Special practice rounds: Python.
USPSA-type matches: TBD.
I haven't tried that, yet. To do the comparison directly, I would need a AIWB holster from @Tony Mayer. My unedumicated guess would be that the 66-8 would carry a little better because it has a round butt.
