That should serve you well, LL. I'm a fan of Sandvik 12C27. It gives good performance, takes a fine edge and is easy to sharpen.
People like to jump on the bandwagon of the latest and greatest steels but this is one that has stood the test of time and when Master Smith P.J. Tomes wasn't forging 52100, the stainless he preferred was 12C27.
"Easy to sharpen" is LL friendly. #Handicapable
Then you'll be pleased. It's a relatively fine grain steel (which is why it was designed for razor blades) and takes a keen edge without much effort.
If you don't like to freehand sharpen, I might recommend the Spyderco Tri-Angle Sharpmaker and / or the DMT Magna-Guide Kit.
I like to sharpen on diamond hones and finish on ceramic but I enjoy various sharpening tools almost as much as I do the knives they service. I would highly recommend either or both of the above kits.
and yep I bought one too. Thanks for the link!
I was just about to post this. Damned #EastCoastPrivilege
I've had a hell of a time putting a decent edge on the 12c27 on my China pick. Seems like it gets dull with time. Maybe the sheath is dulling it, idk.
That cost me a quick $74. Thanks for enabling!
Dang you LL. Using Amazon pay made that too easy. That pocket clip sealed the deal for me. Pocket clips make or break a knife for me. I May end up taking it off and just sliding it in the pocket.
ETA: their website is awesome. I had no idea they existed.
