AIWB Carry Poll
Among the subset of members who carry AIWB, I am curious to know what the distribution of pistol type is with regard to holster safety, as represented by the following four general categories:
- I carry a pistol with an external safety.
- I carry a pistol with an external hammer.
- I carry a pistol with an SCD.
- I carry a pistol having none of the above features.
Note
- Please only vote if you are truly a dedicated, daily AIWB carrier.
- If you carry more than one type pistol, vote for the one you carry most often.
- Once you have voted, post the make and model of the gun your vote is based upon.

Gen 4 Glock 19, tenicore velo
-
Glock 26, Gen5
(Same answer, SCD, would apply to my G17 and G19 as well, but the 26 is by far the model most often carried.)
-
Glock 19 Gen 4 with SCD in JM Custom Wing Claw 2.5 or Early Mastermind Tactics holster.

I said "SCD", as the Glock 43X is quickly becoming my go to for appendix carry. Historically it's been a hammer fired gun, though.
-
Work gun (gen 5 Glock 17) so no changes. SCD on personal guns (frequently a Glock 26 lately).

Voted external safety because my primary carry is a 1911 (specifically an Ed Brown EVO KC9). It obviously also has an external hammer as well as a grip safety, and I really appreciate the sum of all those features for safety purposes, but the manual safety is the main thing for me so I voted based on that. I’d be just about as comfortable carrying anything else with a well-designed manual safety.
