Naturally when I read this, I immediately bought two of what's to be banned and then ran to tell you guys  Because they're banning them, I bought them.

For the uninformed, what's the use case and why is it being banned?
Yep. Already got a few more Baofengs.
ugh.
2/3-3/4 of the Baufeng's I've come across have been garbage (noise, bleedover, etc). I totally get the price consideration, but because I already have a high-end (or was when I bought it in 2008) Yaesu HT, I have a hard time accepting the noise and limitations of the charming Chinese cheapies.

While I enjoy a good trolling from time to time, especially if it triggers some Cheeto eating dweeb for a couple seconds, I’d legitimately like to hear more about what sorts of interference these radios generate and what the good alternatives are for similar communications.
Sure having a few around after they’re banned might be kinda handy, but the sustainable alternative will eventually have to come into play.

As a ham radio licensee, meh, not really. The FCC is simply adjusting the rules to what everyone is doing already with this type of gear. Much ado about nothing. As @mtnbkr says these Baofeng radios are just cheap crap. (I do have one and will not be buying anymore).
