I just, I mean, how is that even possible? You would have to really work at pulling that one off.

I'm more of a close-quarters (one-handed axe, seax, hand-and-a-half broadsword) guy when it comes to things like SCA, therefore I'm no expert... But even I know it takes a special kind of stupid to shoot yourself in the face with your own longbow.

Rule II: Thou shalt point thine arrow at naught but that which thou doth wish to impale.

That looks like a crossbow quarrel/bolt. Some crossbows launch hard enough to break defective arrows. This may have broken and stuck in his forward hand.

That arrow through the wrist was from dude shooting a broken shaft carbon fiber arrow. Happens with alarming frequency around September....

My guess, using his feet. The modern equivalent is the gangster wannabe taking a cell phone video of what his gun looked like from the muzzle end.

My second thought.

Methinks there was a lot of that going on back then.

Henry was present when William died in a hunting accident in 1100, and he seized the English throne,

PS; Yeah, it's Wiki, but the history is solid.

Picturing the guy's wife during that investigation...

"Wherefore he hadst simply been becleaning it, good gendarmes, whenst it went off, surprifing us moft greatly."

Flawless, sub-moa fit and finish...all day long.
