Please read the rules (http://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?1837-Drill-of-the-Week) before participating in this thread.

Week 82: Most-zambique
results may be posted until 11:59pm EST on Monday 14-October-2013.

Range: 10yd
Target: torso target (8" circle, 8.5x11 paper, USPSA A-zone) and head target (3x5, USPSA credit card, or similar)
Start position: holstered (if allowed)
Rounds fired: varies

Establish a baseline: draw and fire two to the body and one to the head with no misses and record your time. Shoot the drill as many times as you need to get a clean baseline number.

Add one second to your time. That will be your PAR for this drill.

Shoot three traditional "Mozambiques" (two to the body, one to the head) in under the PAR time. If you have any misses or go over PAR, you're done.

If you succeed, add an extra body shot (three to the body, one to the head) and repeat three times with the same PAR. If you succeed, add another body shot and run it three times. Keep adding one more body shot each time you get three clean runs until you finally exceed PAR once or miss once.

The goal is to push your draw speed and high% splits without losing control of the gun and becoming unable to get a low% hit on demand.

Note that the drill is run at 10yd, not 7yd.

Please report the following when you post your results in this thread:

gun & holster used
targets used
starting position (concealed, duty holster, open holster, or ready)
PAR
success or failure at 2+1, 3+1, etc until failure point

Training with firearms is an inherently dangerous activity. Be sure to follow all safety protocols when using firearms or practicing these drills. These drills are provided for information purposes only. Use at your own risk.

So sad... I might take up knife throwing.

targets used: 8" circle and 3x5 card on a Q-PT
starting position: concealed under polo
PAR: 3.4s
2+1: success
3+1: success
4+1: missed the head shot on my last run after being very behind thanks to a bad draw

gun & holster used: Sig 226R 9mm, DSG AIWB
targets used: Pistol-Training Q
starting position: Concealed under my Darth Vader "Free Hugs" T-shirt
PAR: 4.8
2+1: success
3+1: Missed a body shot on my last run, second shot I mashed the trigger BAD for some weird reason. It was like the Hulk took control of my trigger finger.

I do think the Trijicon HD front sight width is causing me some trouble, also the drive-the-dot sight picture seems problematic to me as well. I'm considering switching over to a Dawson/Warren combo, and setting it up for a 6 o'clock hold...

ETA: I continue to be my worst limitation. I'm slowing myself way down for some reason. Tried the 3+1 after I failed it and turned in a 2.9 clean. Ah well, more practice.

M&P9 in a JMCK AIWB under a polo
3x5 and 8.5x11 (one of the silhouettes from last week, just covered up the shot-up A-zones with new targets)

PAR: 3.52 (took four attempts to get a clean one... should have known then that this would get ugly)

2+1: FAIL3:mad:

I attempted this drill three times using the same baseline/PAR. Even with bigger targets than I used last week, and an extra second to work with, I couldn't shoot two in a row clean, let alone three.

After failure #3 I packed up and went home.
