Just saw an ad for this. Would be interested if their QC wasn't in the dumper.

Surprisingly, they are slowly coming around. The P227's may show promise, yet.

My experience is with older P series, and 2012 and newer P series pistols. I am yet to experience a stoppage, malfunction or parts breakage. This experience matches that of others I have corresponded with on PF and elsewhere.

No idea how the 227 will do, although I suspect the 224 has had a rocky intro between .40 issues and at least one 224 9 I am aware of having issues with 229 and 226 magazines.

I'll bite..........as soon as I can find one at a price that is not outrageous.

Good to hear. I may put it on my short list, but it will be competing with the HK45c and since I carry a P30, the HK45c will get the nod for now.

I've talked to some ISP guys who were pretty stoked about these things coming out...

This does seem promising.

I like that it has the E2 Grip and I would hope an SRT Trigger. Guessing it uses a P226 Frame as a base, but I doubt mag geometry is identical to a P226. Looking forward to hearing reports on this one. I won't dive in for at least a year anyway, so I've got time to read the good and the bad.

I love new stuff, but am not sure about the 227.

Pro is it holds more cartridges in a 226 form factory, and might be easier to reload (although the 220 reloads fast for a single stack).

Possible negatives. I don't like E2 grips and I am not sure if regular grips will fit. E2 grips start out scratchy and then get slick with use. Plus, while the E2 grips feel better in my hand, I shoot regular grips, especially G10 Hogue grips, better. For the 2 extra rounds, you end up with fat magazines, compared to the 220, and which are harder to conceal. For people that carry a 245 as a BUG, mags don't interchange. While a 226 feels good, I absolutely lovely the way the thinner 220 feels in my hands. Finally, with the 227, you become an unpaid, new product tester for Sig.

The 227 May be my next issued duty pistol. Especially if one our captains has a say.

Have you handled one?

They are nice, but the extra two rounds cost too much, imo.

I would still prefer the feel of a standard 220 over 2 extra rounds (I really regret selling my 220)... For capacity, I'll stick with a 9mm.

For a double stack .45 I'll stay with my V7 USP 45: more ammo and better QC

Why do you not invite me along when you get to play with cool stuff? ;)

I got to fondle one of these last week while getting re-certified as a Sig armorer but didn't get to shoot it. IMO, the slim E2 grips make the thickness reasonable (for lack of a better term). When holding it up against a P226 E2 for comparison, the P227's grips are wider by a slightly more than 1/8". It looks very similar to the P226 but the grip portion of the frames are different.

I carried a P220 as a duty pistol for several years but would have to shoot a P227 to see if I'd like it better than carrying P220 with a quad mag pouch. I also carried a P226 so I don't think that transitioning to a P227 would be a big deal if that was what was issued.

I might wait to see what the polymer framed, striker fired Sig looks like ;-)

I think John is right about the magazines for these needing to be right. Hopefully Sig did their research on this. Me I'll just likely stay with my 220 anyway as the spare flat magazines are easier to carry.

I am cautiously optimistic. I've been told that it will be at least a year before the 227 is an approved gun. Maybe by then the teething issues will be solved. There is a tweak to the mag that makes it an 11+1 gun too.

I was able to handle but not fire a sample. I thought Sig had done a good job of shoehorning the extra rounds unto the gun while keeping the size reasonable.

I also heard from a reliable industry source that Sig has worked out most of its qc issues. (Primarily to keep overseas customers happy). They may not be as good as they once we're but they're probably good enough.

I've handled one of the 227 dry but not in live fire. I didn't bother to sign it out to shoot. It felt like a 226 with equivalent grips, and mostly left me with a "meh." Shooting it beside a 226 in 9, 40, and a 220 would be more interesting.

It's probably worth looking at if you're a 226 fan looking for a 45.

Also noticed they add checkering to the front strap, which I like.
