Sorry if this has been broached before, but I haven't found anything on google, bing, or on here.

Does anyone have any load data for NATO-spec 9mm? I'm going to be getting into reloading soon and I'd like to have some data to start with while I get everything together.

Point of clarification: Do you want general 9mm reload information or do you want loads that mimic 9mm NATO (higher pressure) loadings?

I've chronographed Winchester 124 gr. Nato.

Out of a Glock 19 at 10 feet:

High 1176
Low 1151
Average 1164
Extreme Spread 25
Standard Deviation 8

According to The Speer Reloading Manual #13 max or near max charges of HS-7, Blue Dot, AA#9, Unique, AA#7, or Vhita Vouri 3N37 will get you to that velocity. I can also say that Power Pistol will get you there, however I can't find my notes for that particular charge and it depends what manual you are looking at to say that it is a within spec.

I can say that 5.8 gr. of Power Pistol at about ~1100 f/s replicates both the POI and felt recoil of 124gr. Speer Gold Dot +P fairly well.

Caveat: As with any reloading endeavor, start low and work up.

I'm looking for something that mimics the actual NATO loading since that was my preferred practice round before the panic hit. For some reason I can easily find .40 or .45 pretty easily, but aside from random boxes of lower-rent 115 grain standard pressure loads and the odd box of generic hollow points, I can't really find 9mm on store shelves right now.

Gotcha. That 5.5-5.7 loading of power pistol behind a 124 gr bullet does the trick.

Work from 5gr up. (I really like 4.5gr behind a 147 - soft, accurate, easy to get along with...)

Seven grains of blue dot and magnum small pistol with 124 plated bullets have given me about 1275 from a Glock 17.

Not all 9mm Nato rounds are 124 grain bullets. There is a vast variation difference between Nato countries.

Thanks for the info, it's much appreciated.

I'm just annoyed that I'm having to go this route when I distinctly recall getting the 124 grain Winchester NATO for about $18/box of 100 before the panic. But on the bright side, I'll be able to shoot again once I get everything set up.

What's the OAL for the load above? I, too would like to replicate the 9mm NATO Winchester load. Have 3,750 124 round nose Montana Gold bullets, plenty of brass, a chronograph, primers, powder and no 9mm dies..

I'm loading 124 gr. Precision Delta over 5.7 gr. of Power Pistol at 1.145". I've loaded Montana Golds with a different powder at 1.140". I started with 1.150" and had a significant standard deviation (SD). Shortening the OAL by 0.010" cut the SD by half. You might have to play with the OAL a little to get the numbers you want.

That's depressing... I just saw some at the Mountain of Geese yesterday for $20/50.

I did not see the NATO rounds in 2012 for $9.00 per 50 or I would have loaded up. I was paying in the $15.00 range in 2012, and if you can buy them today for $20.00 per 50 you are doing well.

One caveat when reloading a small case like the 9mm..... Overall length is critical and bullet shape specific. A small change in length can change pressure significantly. A chronograph is a very good investment.

I should have added the caveat that there was a sale going on for Veteran's Day on top of the store I went to giving a mil discount so I wound up with four 50 round boxes for about $39-ish after tax. The average price for Winchester 124 gr NATO was about $12/50 before the panic hit.

Just for kittens and gins I Googled "STANAG 9mm", and found this: (NATO) Stanag 4090 Ed.2 - Small Arms Ammunition (9 mm Parabellum) - 1982 (http://www.scribd.com/doc/85843207/NATO-Stanag-4090-Ed-2-Small-Arms-Ammunition-9-mm-Parabellum-1982)

Hoping to get some die sets soon (9mm and .38/.357). Will report my NATO load powder specs, primers, OAL and some chrono numbers of my loads compared against some Winchester NATO rounds I have.
