Who be packing these sidearms?

I've walked DC a bunch and almost completely noted Glocks in MPDC holsters when I saw anyone armed, except for Police Week when the place is crawling with coppers from all over.

The 66 was in a security guard holster iirc.

The python was in an oldish guard's basket weave.

G17 was in a best buy sec guard thigh rig.

Sigs were every where.

Pro was away from the Penn ave area.

Glocks were the minority in the Penn ave area. 226 and 229s every where.

They must be arming more of the security guys since the last time I was there.

Best Buy? Like the retail store? Armed security? with a 30 round magazine?

DC must be hard

I felt downright naked in DC with just my ____insert felony here____ and a P'kal.

Pretty sure the first few times I went to DC I was a felon, even with a badge. I was on the "don't ask-don't tell" plan, if it works for other people I figure it works for me too.

However, comma, that first trip one night we missed the last Metro train back to the hotel and had to hoof it more than 20 blocks. I had my 642 in my hand five different times during that one walk back. No bullkitten.

A Glock happy stick in a holstered pistol? Serious? That is just stupid as hell.

Dead serious. Sighting was confirmed by my escort.

If it weren't in indiscrete, I'd vote for most professional agency in DC. Those guys were total pros. Security was above Quantico imo.

That's even better than the kid down the street at the pawn shop in the security guard uniform with an Even-Milspeccer GI Springer in a Serpa. I didn't ask, but I'd be willing to bet that the answer would have involved Force Recon.

This town made me feel tactically inadequate.

Sounds like the kid at a nearby Motel Six. He had a pair of knock-off expandable batons so he could wield one in each hand.

I rode the last Orange train on a rainy (no tourist but me) weeknight.
West of the Smithsonian was "Night of the Living Dead".
It didn't really get "civilized" until the train hit East Falls Church.
Lot of opportunistic predator types scoping out the drunk oblivious college kids (college kids wearing Rolex watches and other flashy Gucci gear).
My ___insert felony here___ stayed well concealed but I "thumb checked" my P'kal several times.
Having a shaved head, cauliflower ears and straight laced Doc Martens was probably to my advantage as well.
Coolest gun sighting was a FN P90 at the Capitol building and seeing the snipers/spotters on the various rooftops under cheap blue pop-up awnings.

Security folks can be all types, though a poorly run company can sure attract the "Walter Mitties" of the world.

I worked part time for a pretty good company. Decent screening, with a majority of the officers being retired LEOs or military.

Me and another guy were closing a park one night about 2300. One of the patrons looked at my issued Glock and asked me "Is that a 9mm?". I said no, it's a 10mm Kurtz. ~ Blank look. My buddy was able to keep it together till we had cleared earshot and then came down with a case of the giggles.... :D

When you are walking down the empty sidewalk and you see a guy up ahead quick peak you, then he comes around the corner at a fast walk with two friends in tow, nothing good can come of it.

It was hilarious to see them crash into each other as I drew the 642 (carried AIWB, I was ahead of my time....), quick peak guy was in the lead and saw the gun, the other two didn't, when he hit the brakes the other two ran into him, there was a cluster-huddle and then they were what my Drill SGT would have termed "***holes and elbows" leaving the scene.

Quick scan, reholster, pick up the grocery sack and kept walking.....

Back then, from talking to the Secret Service snipers, I found they were using custom 7mm Rem Mags, which I found interdasting.

Ultra close runner up seafood - Black Salt

Best breakfast - ICi Urban Bistro (Pricey, be warned)

Awesome Italian - La Perla (rissoto is awesome, mushrooms are wicked good, ravioli is best I've had)

Best steak - Charlie Palmer

Avoid - Any chain larger than 4 locations nation wide
