Please read the rules (http://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?1837-Drill-of-the-Week) before participating in this thread.
Week 75: PAR for Speed
results may be posted until 11:59pm EST on Friday 2-August-2013.
Range: 7yd
Target: IPSC A-zone, IDPA -0 zone, or 8.5x11 sheet of paper
Start position: holstered
Rounds fired: varies
This week's DotW follows from last week's "PAR for Distance" and is again inspired by the recent discussion of different scoring systems (http://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?8740-Time-Plus-and-how-fast-is-fast-enough) and how they impact training.
You will need a shot timer for this drill.
Begin holstered facing the target at a distance of seven yards. On the buzzer, draw and fire five rounds at the target within the 3-second PAR.
If you miss any shots or fail to fire all five shots within three seconds, you are done.
If you get all five hits within three seconds, decrease your PAR by whatever amount you wish. Repeat the drill at your new PAR. Continue to reduce the PAR until you either miss or fail to fire all five rounds within your chosen PAR.
If your range will not allow shooting from a holster begin from a ready position of your choice and fire SIX rounds per iteration instead of five.
Please report the following when you post your results in this thread:
starting position (ready, competition holster, duty holster, or concealed)
gun & holster used
PAR times that were successful (all hits within time limit)
PAR time at which you failed (miss or going over time)
Training with firearms is an inherently dangerous activity. Be sure to follow all safety protocols when using firearms or practicing these drills. These drills are provided for information purposes only. Use at your own risk.
