But Makers Mark wants to dilute their product by 2% so they can meet growing demand...
And Buffalo Trace is projecting a shortage (http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2013/05/24/kentucky-distillery-warns-bourbon-shortage/) as well.

Why drink beer when Bourbon is more better?

I'm trying to hold up my end, but when your choice is either 'flavored mineral spirits' for $35 a bottle, or 'the good stuff' for $150 a bottle... coffee and tea look pretty good.

Yeah, I'd go Temperance under those conditions, too.

I'd go broke, then blind from methanol poisoning....

Considering I can no longer drink beer, y'all might want to sell off any related stock. Buy stock in rum distilleries instead, I can still drink that.

Me, too. Bought a sixer of Einbecker, another of Jever, and two big pint + size Thornbridge Kipling brews at the beer store this week. Told the beer guy my fancy beer budget was all spent for the week.

Big beer is taking a beating. They are losing market share to micro brews and spirits. Ironically they aren't concerned about the micro movement and see spirits as the main competition.

Boutique whiskey/bourbon is the in thing right now. It would really take off if it was legal to distill at home

Isn't it legal to distill at home? I thought you just can't sell or distribute it, just like brewing your own beer or making your own wine, no?

Today: North Coast Blue Star (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/112/407) on draft with lunch, and a couple bottles of Red Hook Wise Cracker Wit (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/18134/68941) on the porch with a book 'long about sundown.

Do they still make Budweiser?

I wonder what the ratio of beer sales in bars to beer sales in stores was and now is.

I know a few guys that have stopped buying $7 beers at the bar when the can get a 6 pack of the same beer for $7 at the Stop 'n Rob.

Illegal to distill for consumption at the federal level. Some states allow it but the ATF does not.

You can get a permit to become a distillery but then you are subject to unannounced inspections by the ATF.
