I have a Glock 23 and Sig P229 that are in 40 but I was thinking of saleing a few Guns to get a HK since I do not have one. I have seen HK P2000 mags used at glock prices and was thinking of getting one.

Should I even look at a HK? Have been reading all the good stuff of the P30 that have made me start to think.

I have a $100 holster for a HK P2000sk that is pretty good so that is one of the reason why the P2000 and mag prices.

Well.....if a P30 is an option, a P30 is probably the answer..... I've yet to meet a person who regretted purchasing one.

Holy shit, is UBG now charging $100 for that holster I gave you!? I guess you lucked out, bro!

The thing about, "should I even look at HK?" is something you'll have to settle with yourself. You and I both can get blue label glocks....I still went and paid over twice as much for an HK though. YMMV.

Shoot me a text if you want to try out my P2000 sometime. The FNX9 makes my stock 11,000rnd da/sa P2000 trigger feel like a match grade race gun. There's probably someone around NoVA that has a P30 willing to let you try as well. After checking out that PPQ with you and John last week, I'd give that a hard look as well unless you're looking at AIWB carry....

Don't think that holster will fit the P2000 safely, though. It left way too much of the trigger guard exposed. The trigger would sit right at the top of holster, and it took me a few emails to convince nate from UBG that the holster wasn't correct and I needed a new one. If you get a P2000, I'd be happy to sell you my other UBG holster that is correct to the P2000 with excellent fit and retention. I haven't touched it since I got the CCC Looper as the looper is just so much more comfortable to me, and I figured I don't like a full leather holster as much as kydex with a leather comfort layer.....

Oh, and don't tell John about the HK. I think he signed my CCSD certificate as completed with "HK foo-foo gun."

P30. I want to hear about the PPQ if anyone here has shot it. Start a new thread.

I'm in the midst of making this choice now but in 9mn. I think I'm going p2000 because it is easier for me to conceal with the way I carry and dress. The mag prices are way cheaper but that is not a major factor since my ammo cost are going to far outstrip the hardware.

I love my h&k 45c. Switched to it from 1911s. Therefore, I know I like the way the grip feels. I only briefly got to carry a p30 and did not notice the abrasive grip but then again I did not carry it for 8 hours.

good luck.

To my hands, the length and feel of grip of the HK45 is to the P30, as the P2000 is to the HK 45C.

Well put GJM.

My problem with the P2000 is the older style mag release. It's a tiny dinky little target for my big monkey fingers. I much prefer the newer style mag release on the P30. I do like the grip on the P2000. It's also just a little bit better size for carry than the P30. You can also get the P30 with a manual safety if you like that sort of thing. Your best bet is to fondle both if you can and see if one feels better to you. ideally you would be able to shoot both. If you are shooting that snappy .40 round then grip and adjustability will be your friend so thats another advantage to the P30. They sell a lot of P2000 .40 pistols here in Phoenix because thats what the Border Patrol uses so your average Joe thinks it must be a pretty good pistol.

Update:

Traded a Sig P229 for a HK USP compact in 40 and then traded a HK USPc 40 LEM for the P2000 LEM in 9mm.

I am really liking this handgun.

I do believe the HK45C magazine release can be fitted onto a P2000. I plan on trying it with mine one of these days...

I don't think it will.

I do, but it was more of a regret on the trigger. He hates the da/sa. He wanted the lem and regrets not.

Now you have.
I regret purchasing my P30.
I should have just bought another P2000 instead.
I shoot the P2000 better, no slide stop lever issues and it conceals better.

OP, if you are still considering the .40 and an HK, look at the USP Compact in .40 S&W. Nothing that I've shot handles the .40 better than the USP and USP Compact. I currently own a P30S .40 and a USPc .40. I used to own the P2000 in .40, never warmed up to it.

I wish I could trade the hk usp combat for a p2000 or p30 but it is the size of a block 17.

I can recommend the P2000 LEM.

I carried the HK 40 cal USP Compact LEM as a duty weapon for 8 years. It's a good weapon, but the P2000 addresses the two issues I had with the USPc: Grip size / shape ( too small for me / blocky 2x4 feel ) and the proprietary flashlight rail.

Re used HK mags - Check the zipper welds on the back, I have seen some agency issued HK USPc/P2000 mags start to split along the welds.
