Nothing exciting to look at, but they work.
http://i537.photobucket.com/albums/ff339/ArclightPB/Guns/GlockFamily2.jpg
Photo credits go to people who took these photos; it wasn't me. What I did was to convince the builder to "ruin the classic lines of 1911" and now there is custom aluminum Dawson rail attached to dust cover.
The first photo illustrates that with true custom 1911 what's inside often times is more exciting that what meets the eye; not that the exterior is hard on eyes. Somehow, nobody mentions that no other platform allows craftsmen to express themselves this way - which may or may not be a valid reason to own a 1911, you decide.
BTW, despite exorbitant price and one-of-a-kind character, the pistol is shot, carried and is taken to classes. It will likely be shot during day 2 of Todd's AFHF class in SLC. The only limiting factors to me using it more often are price of 45 ACP ammo and my desire to be proficient with more demanding trigger systems.

I am a second owner, although the gun was not shot before I got it. I don't have a build sheet - which is for the better since every time I take it apart, I find something new. It was built by Ned Christiansen, who is a great guy and a genius. The main line in this build was extreme weight reduction while maintaining all steel construction - metal was removed from all places possible and impossible.
Rear sight is Ned's rendition of how it is supposed be done for one-handed manipulations. Combined with flattened top of the slide, it makes a big "hook" with very reliable engagement.
Grip safety: I believe Ned holds a patent for this mod. Some folks - and Ned is one of them - have issues with traditional GS due to pivoting nature of it. When one tries to get a very high grip on the gun, it is possible to provide more upwards pressure on beavertail than forward pressure on the pad, and gun won't fire. Ned "splits" grip safety into two pieces so beavertail portion is static and doesn't move at all. This is how it looks on the gun
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v466/Heartachedoc/back.jpg
RDS part is a proof of concept. The can is neutered - something to do with Michigan class III laws...He just thought that suppressor can be a carrier for RDS and built that mount. I haven't pursued getting a real can to test it out.

Not too highly regarded by some shooters today, this plain old S&W Model 10 HB is one of my favorites and is on constant "house duty". It is sometimes carried concealed as well. I bought this old thing used and with the hammer bobbed and converted to DAO, which suits me fine. It shoots to the sights and is loaded with Remington 158-gr. LHP +P. I trust it as much as I trust any handgun.

Before retiring from police work, this S&W Model 042 served as a BUG for several years.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y171/hipowersandhandguns/Hipowersandhandguns2/RHPDutyHPrear1contrastadded.jpg
This Mk III 9mm was my duty gun for several years and the one on my side when I retired in '98. I had it reblued after leaving police work, but it's starting to get "thin" again on the back and front grip straps.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y171/hipowersandhandguns/Hipowersandhandguns2/MkIIHPandCZandMkIIIphotos034.jpg
I toted this lightly-modifed Mk II Hi Power in the '80's. It is no longer mine, but served well indeed.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y171/hipowersandhandguns/Hipowersandhandguns2/CaspianColt1911002.jpg
This Caspian frame/Colt Slide/Kart bbl 1911 was done for me in the 1980's by gunsmith, Lou Williamson. It continues to go the the range frequently at the present.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y171/hipowersandhandguns/Hipowersandhandguns2/Glock17Lrange006.jpg
I also shoot the Glock 17 and new (to me) 17L quite a bit now days.
Best.

Is the squared off dust cover a Springfield trait?
It was up until... '03? '04?
Fewer machining steps for Imbel. Apparently it drew enough flack that they eventually went to the standard dust cover. It did make it hard to get a Springer in a really tightly-molded holster.
Even after they went to the rounded dust cover, they continued using NOS frames with squared-off ones to fill the FBI contract, too. Hearsay is that the FBI asked them to, but I can't see why. There's not enough extra metal there to add an ounce of weight, it just makes it look weird.
The potential holster issues was my concern.
The potential holster issues was my concern.
I've had no problems fitting mine in a 1911 holster, including a Milt Sparks Summer Special. Mine is a three digit serial numbered Springfield Pro with a serial number that begins with a 7. I bought used. Here is a picture of it, though I used Pachmayr wraparound grips now:

That's because the three-digit S/N on Tamara's begins with a 6 ;)
(Which means your gun dates roughly to '01 or '02, so my memory is obviously bad on the dates of the changeover. It was obviously a year or so earlier...)
EDIT: And I bought mine used, as well, back in September of '01, and since this is the "show off thread", I will mention that I only paid $1,300 for an LNIB PC9111.

I'll have to find a pic of the classified underwater kitty delivery vehicle.

I can tell you that it was expensive!! Hahaha.
It is a 1928 West Hurley, which is a pretty common item (relatively speaking), and there were a lot made. I initially wanted an M1, but much prefer the top cocking lever vs. one on the right side of the receiver. This one is very close to "Navy" specs, however the serial number is not listed in my book on Thompson's, which details every make and serial number, or range of numbers if they know where it went originally, and gives the location if they know where it is presently.
The VFG and drum mags would indicate it is in fact, a commercial gun, but because the 1928 models were interchangeable with the drum/stick mags, as well as fore-ends, it is tough to say if there is any significant history attached to the gun or not.
It shoots great. I am working on a project to modify a second fore-end, and mount an AimPoint T-1 to the fore-end along with a flashlight, as well as reducing the length of pull slightly so I can run it as a CQB/HD type gun. At the same time, I can easily change it back to original parts and configuration so my Monster Garage Chop Shop antics don't drop the value of my collectors piece.
The only complaint is that I don't get very much free .45 ammo, and I am still waiting on a progressive re-loader.

Yup. :) The .380s didn't appear 'til 1908.
(I've been running a little love affair with old .32 pocket autos lately. They come from an era when a gentleman could walk into a store and buy one, or even mail order one, and then slip it in his pocket, sail around the world without a passport and with a gun in his pocket, and nobody would find it the slightest bit strange.
Walls were fewer and horizons a bit further away in those days, I'd imagine.)

Those were the days when it was fashionable to carry a pocket pistol. When self confidence was such that ballistic substitution was not necessary. When the ability to defend oneself was considered not only a right, but an obligation.
I envy your collection and the times it reflects back to.

I've always admired is the 1903/1098 series. Honsetsly, one gun I'm bound and determined to own is a Baby Browning. Yes, it's practically useless for self-defense, but something about them just screams "buy me".

Yes! Ordered in first week of February (last fiscal year). Came Tuesday last week. I'm just glad they're here. Everyone seems to like the guns and the holster (Safariland 6360) combo thus far. We will see how good they shoot next week.
BTW: Ever wonder why LEO's that know wear their bullet proof vests to the range? LOL! I will be wearing mine.

Here are a couple of oldies that were left to me by my Grandfather. I remember him showing these to me as a little boy and telling me that someday he would give them to me. He has been dead for 10 years and I had long forgot about them. Just recently an Aunt who I hadn't seen in years gave these to me, as she had been holding on to them. It was a nice surprise.
The first is a S&W Model One, Third Issue. It has a some rust and a broken hammer, but nice anyways.
The second is a Remington Elliott Ring Derringer in .22 short. This actually still works, with all the original parts.

I bought a Beretta 92FS because I am issued an M9, and wanted to spend more time training than the Army would allot during duty hours. I've found if you keep it lubed and change the recoil spring regularly, it is a very reliable pistol. If you don't do those things, BAD THINGS CAN HAPPEN!!! I doubt it would pass a 2,000 round challenge with zero malfunctions without lubrication.
I bought a "G" slide (no safety, decocker only) because I didn't want to accidentally put the weapon back on safe if working a malfunction drill when carrying. I still put the original FS slide back on when training prior to a deployment.
The extended mag release helps when reloading while wearing combat gloves. During extended deployments I put one on my issue M9.

Make that triplets. :p I've explained countless many times that the sharper the knife the safer it is but sometimes it's just easier to go with the flow...

That discussion goes about as well as the one where I try to explain why a knife used to chop an onion should probably be greater in length than the onion's diameter. I am /amazed/ at what I don't know sometimes.

My 2 newest rifle builds completed. My Xmas present to myself. :)
THE BIG BROTHER
The .308 Noveske was based off of a stripped N6 lower and I have put 90 rounds through it with irons only. It has pulled groups in the 1-1.5 MOA range at 100 with irons, in very heavy wind. Wind at 100 wreaked more havoc on moving the target then affecting anything else. I just got the scope mount and have not fired the rifle yet to zero the scope.
Lower
- Stripped Noveske N6 lower 7.62
- Colt Lower Parts w/Armalite Bolt catch, Bolt release, front and rear take down pins
- Geissele SDC trigger
- LMT ambidextrous safety selector
- Noveske QD end plate

- Vltor EMOD stock
- Armalite M14 type newest generation mags (10, 20 and 25 rounders)
Upper
- Noveske 18" SS heavy barrel upper
- Noveske BCG

- American Defense S QD mount
- Leupold Mark4 ER 4.5-14 30mm FFP M5
- Harris Bipod with American Defense QD mount
- BFG Vicker VCAS sling
- Streamlight TLR1S light

I wish my Santa Clause was like youYa, Santa is a Goodfella. :)
Here is some video and pics of the groups that I came up with. I only shot 3 groups of 5 rounds each for the N6 and the N4. The N6 I shot Federal GMM 168gr for all 3 groups. The N4 I ran 1 group of Federal 55gr, 1 group of Speer Gold Dot 64gr and 1 group of Hornady 75gr TAP. I am not making any claims of accuracy with only these few groups but the results were interesting especially with the N4. As Nick noted ironically I got the best group with the 55gr Federal. Again more testing is needed.
The 2 rifles in action for zero @100 yards - Skip to 18:10 in the video for target analysis.

The only gun I don't shoot regularly anymore but I will never sell. This was a birthday gift from my wife 18 days before we got married. I lost count years ago how many rounds have gone through this gun. Both my kids were taught how to shoot pistols on this gun. I retired it to the safe two years ago when I picked up the M&P.
S&W 645, one of the first that hit our area. Serial Number TAM0XXX. Ted Blocker - LFI IWB holster and mag carrier.
http://i1188.photobucket.com/albums/z417/rsa-otc/IMG_0157.jpg
My IDPA SSR gun, S&W early Mdl 686 - nothing. Serial Number AJVXXXX
http://i1188.photobucket.com/albums/z417/rsa-otc/IMG_0158.jpg
My current CDP gun S&W 45 Serial number DUH70XX
http://i1188.photobucket.com/albums/z417/rsa-otc/IMG_0159.jpg
OK I admit I'm a bit of a S&W fanboy. Grew up shooting S&W revolvers. I have nothing against Glocks in fact every time I've shot one I shot it well. Glocks problem for me is that I reload and shoot lead becouse it's cheaper and more rounds can go down range. If I had a Glock I would have to get an after market barrel. Those dollars spent represent rounds that could be going down range. When looking to replace my 645 I looked at the HK 45 LEM but the extra several hundred dollars spent for the HK again represents rounds that could be going down range.
My S&W's have given me excellent service.
ETA: With the exception of the 645, I now only own guns that I shoot regularly. Just my thing.

Next, a P210-6S Heavy Frame, Micro Adj. Target Sights. The 6S has an American mag release compared to the usual euro heel release.

And finally, a P210-7 (.22LR) with the Micro Adj. Target Sights. Watch is a Rolex GMT Master II.

One reason you see more Mossberg over Remington shotguns used in Shortbarreld shotguns is a tax issue. If the shotgun came with a stock, it is a SBS(short barreled shotgun) which means a $200 tax stamp. If it came as just a receiver or pistol grip shotgun from the factory, it is considered an AOW(any other weapon) which means $5 tax stamp. Crazy!!
You don't see much in the way of straight shotgun receivers coming out of Remington.

Everything there is carried exactly as pictured.
I heard from a guy over at SWATDeltaNinjaForce5.net that it is how all of the "real" dudes carry their gear. Condition 3 pistol Mexican holster, condition 1 folding knife AIWB, and dive watch NOT on wrist.

Wouldn't the knife be condition 0?

This is what your great suggestions ended up producing. You should feel proud how quickly and easily you dedicated forum members and fellow shooters can part a gun nut and his money. I am looking forward to getting some rounds loaded for it, and taking it out for the first test drive. Hopefully within the next week or ten days as I wait on loading components. I'll let you know how it works out once that happens. Until then, it is dry fire, dry fire, and dry fire some more to get used to the competition trigger.
14oz ...............any bets on how many AD's I have before I figure it all out? Or to keep it quantifiable and track-able, how many AD's I'll have the first day of live fire? FWIW, I plan on a few different days of load testing prior to "firing" for practice/familiarity. The AD's will only count the first day AFTER a pet load has been developed and mass quantities loaded. My definition of an AD is any time I discharge a round when I did not intend to, while pointed in a safe direction, where negligence, or violating any of the 4 rules was not a contributing factor.
I don't know what I would give to the winner............maybe a challenge coin from my unit? To keep this topic on topic, I'll post a new topic here in the Romper Room once I am ready to shoot my very first "Gamer gun".

Might as well mix it up. Old pic of my 6.5x55mm Swedish Mauser. This is a CG63; a purpose built rifle for their civilian marksmanship competitions. Open sights at 300 meters. They cherry picked donor rifles, added a longer free flloat barrel and a nice 2 stage trigger. Not at all useful nor a gun a I shoot a lot and I will not part from it. The receiver was made in 1901 and the blueing looks like black glass.

Here is a little something interesting I found in one of my numerous bins of parts and pieces. This is a .45acp suppressed Destroyer Carbine breakdown rifle.
The whole thing broke down and fit in a small attache case. It has Warne QD mounts for a sight.
I built this about 20 years ago and only 5 were made. It is obviously beat to hell and ready for a quick refurb. Still pretty damn quite.

One of my favorite guns ever for no reason at all. I think it was actually the DeLisle carbine; I thought Destroyer carbines were 9x23 Largo, unsuppressed guns.

I had an updated DeLisle in mind when I built these. You are correct on the Largo cartridge. Luckily, the magazines were copies of the 1911 mag, so that made it fairly easy. The feed lips in the receiver had to be milled out, the bolt handle reset, etc. It was a fun project. Good little 100 yard game getter ;-)
