Went on a ski tour with a buddy yesterday and hung out at his home afterward for a few hours. He's a Swiss fellow that I ski and cycle with fairly often.

On my way out, he opened a drawer in his work shop and handed me this stating "Take this with ya and go shoot it some why don't ya" knowing full well that it's a grail-like favorite of mine. I tried to politely decline, especially given his history with it, but he insisted.

Figured I'd share some pics I took coonfingering it when I got it back home...

Not a new gun, just some fawning over my 220R. I understand the 220 enjoys only a middling reputation on this high volume shooter forum, but my sample of one is one of my best guns. Build quality is superb and function is enthusiastic and reliable.

I married an Irish bride. It is not just St Patrick's day, every day is Irish Day. Occasionally, I get proper Irish meals. Tonight she made Leg of Lamb Roast with blackberry reduction, Colcannon (which is potatoes, spinach-kale mix, shallots, Irish Butter, salt and pepper), and candied beats. Also, she had an Australian Wine, (Tullymore Dew shots happened the whole 5 hours it took her to cook this). She toasted screw the crown. (Now we have British friends, but her great grandparents were from Belfast (moms side) and from Dublin (dads side)). So no offense to my Brit friends.
This was all done in Nighthawk fashion tonight;)

Hope you all had a safe and great St Patrick's Day.

When my grandfather was a young man, more than 75 years ago, he bought a Winchester 25-35 at an estate sale. It had a hole drilled in the stock so it could hang from a peg on the wall. When the Winchester was brought out on the family shooting trips, it was a real treat. It was always one of my favorites to shoot. The rifle was passed to me when my grandfather died

2017 LP Classic. Got Bare Knuckle Black Dog/Riff Raff pickups on the way.

Also ordered a custom Mesa cab. I have a 2x12 right now and it's just a bit much. I had a 1x12 Mini Rectifier cab but it was a little weak on the bottom end so I went with their standard Rectifier 1x12 which is 3" deeper and a little more thumpy.

Got it in this color of green with the grey grill cloth of the head shown:

Haha. No, this one took me about 10 years to receive. I'm not sure how that compares to SOE's wait times. I did have to twist some arms and literally choke people on occasion to get it, though.

For what it does there are few other setups that come close. Especially with NVGs....

Yes indeed Rich:
My work attire is a light blue dress shirt and casual pants.
It's tough to hide a handgun, and not look sloppy.
I've been wearing it for two days now, so far so good.
I've determined that the outrigger is not an option appendix, as it rides too high, but it is another great option for behind the hip carry.

I've ordered a wedge from mastermind to tuck it in just a bit

Is the echo diminished now that you have stuff in the room?

We used attic/ceiling insulation in the walls as it was thicker and provided better insulation properties. Combined with the Sheetrock ceilings and wood paneling for walls, it has made a big difference. Having things on the walls is helping, and I still have lots of furniture to add still, along with a couple of area rugs that should round it out nicely. The echo effect is not much of an issue any more. My only obstacle now is having enough room For everything I wanted to put in this room.

Oh.....and money. Big obstacle now since I don't have any left........ starting a GoFundMe page so I can finally get this remodeling/vault room finished.

This will be the last update for a bit, or at least until it's close to finished. Still need:

-Move in/Set up work bench, and mount overhead lighting/book cases.
-Set up Dillon 650s and reloading bench organized
-Move in ammo
-Move in ancillary gear and random shit
-Buy china cabinet (to store and display gold/silver/valuables)
-Buy bookshelves
-Buy coffee table
-Buy area rug (it's gotta really tie the room together).

It will be a work in progress for several more weeks, and possibly even months I'm sure. But I'll update with final photos once they are ready.

Until then, here it is in all it's glory (so far)

Sadly I've stopped playing XBox...... and I've updated my porn collection to fit on three 1TB external hard drives, easing the storage requirements associated with years past........

Sitting in the room last night it occurred to me that I could even use it as a training classroom, should I ever decide to conduct training. I'm looking forward to getting it finished and have my gun hobby functional again.

I plan to have a room like that one day. Except mine will just be guns and a TV. Maybe a beer fridge.

The beer fridge is actually going in a nook in the adjoining room. At one point I believe they intended the basement as an apartment of sorts, as there is a small laundry room that I'm converting into a kitchenette with fridge and microwave. The adjoining room will be the kids' playroom with the Xbox and TV and blue ray player, toys, etc. The home gym is right off of the playroom in a converted sun room. Of course, the fridge going in there is covered with stickers and patches that probably shouldn't be out for all of the kids too see, but whatever the fuck ever. If your kids come to play at my house, what they see/read from the fridge is the least of your concerns.

I like very much the floor plan/layout of the house, but especially this half of the basement.

Odin Bravo One
10-08-2017, 08:56 PM
Still have not replaced the .22 bullet trap. With the ability to shoot from inside the gym, to targets in the yard, I'm not seeing a need for an indoor bullet trap.

Oh the deforestation? It's gonna happen. When it's going to happen is TBD. Probably after Christmas I'm guessing. I'll start heading down the hill to cut down trees and mark of the range layout after I return from the western U.S. next month. I'm hoping I can wrap up the room by the time I leave, or shortly after I return around Thanksgiving time, so I have one less open ended project serving as a distraction.

We will see how it plays out....... likely to be just a handful of people. I'd like to be able to shoot, or at least for people who show up to be able to shoot, so probably look at working on Saturday, then letting guys sleep off the suace a little before heading to the range site to shoot on Sunday. Depends on how much I can get done between now and then.

Was making my rounds of the local gun stores and I came across this pristine P94DC 9mm. This thing has barely been shot, it is immaculate. And the trigger isn't too bad for an old double action. I gave $425 out-the-door which is probably a little steep but gosh it's nice. This is my third P-series, the others being a P95DC and a P97DC.

Ruger P-series has only been off the market for 4 years and new mags are still available from Ruger and Mec-Gar. Midway had 15-round Ruger mags for $20 so I ordered a couple. Mec-Gar makes 10, 15, 17, and 20 round mags for the 9mm P-series for reasonable prices. I'm in Colorado so having 15-round mags is nice.

Very nice. A like new gun & $20 a pop mags. I may start looking on Gunbroker.

I only asked because I ran into problems with a Six Series (can't recall if it was Service or Security). Ruger took great care of me. However, what appeared to be a quick & simple fix (and I liked the gun) wound up requiring replacement with a GP series (not complaining for sure). Wasn't sure on P-Series timeline, and certainly wasn't taking my last experience for granted as an all the time deal.

I found an identical one on GB for $400 which is what I paid for this one. The 93's and 94's go for a bit more money. P89's and P95's are the most common followed by the P90 which is a .45. The DC designation means decock-only like a type-G Beretta. There's also a manual safety model and a DAO. Someone on GB had a cool DAO 944 with a built-in laser but it was going for crazy money. I guess those were a special order by some agency or something.

S&W 4006 TSW. I believe it belonged to a local sheriff's deputy as the clerk at the pawn shop mentioned it was brought in by a cop and it has PCSO marked on the side which I believe means Pueblo County Sheriff's Office or some other county that starts with a P. I don't know if all TSW's were de-cock only but this one is and the trigger is smooth with maybe a hint of stacking right at the end. Pretty dang good for a DA trigger pull but I suppose it could have been messed with. It feels nice but not super light or crisp and in SA you can feel a tiny bit of the grit that my 3914 is plagued with so maybe it went through the performance center? If it's not factory I would think whoever did it knew what they were doing but at the same time it doesn't feel like something from a high-end gunsmith. I could have saved a bit of money if I had waited for some more CHiPs guns to be released but I don't know that I'll be able to snag one when/if they do so I jumped on this one.

I don't know why but I really want to find a Ruger P90 one of these days. IIRC, it was designed with the 10 mm in mind and as such they're tough. And supposedly quite accurate.

I don't know about the 10mm thing (10mm P90DC would be cool!) but P-series Rugers have a general reputation for being durable pistols. P90's are pretty easy to find. After the P95 and 89/85 they're probably the most common. Get two and you can pretend to be Antonio Banderas in Desperado.

When I got my first Persian, some years back, I thought that a wave would be perfect for it. Then, considering the length of the blade and trailing point, I purposefully and slowly, unfolded the knife right where the wave would normally be and found that the point was starting to dig in my thigh.

I think a wave further up the spine of the blade would do the job though.

Take your time getting over the "Ooooo...Aaaaaahh", it's such a cool knife that it needs to last a while :-)

How's the fit?
I'm a Arc'teryx wearer because they're the best fitting gear i've found for my tall Orangutan build.
With my skinny torso, wide shoulders and loooong arms it's tough finding jackets that are long enough in the arms without being baggy through the body.
Same with trying to find 32x37 pants, I can find short/fat all day but tall/skinny doesn't seem to exist down here in Nuevo Mexico (land of the squatty bodies).
I think I need to start shopping some Nordic brands.

This just came in from a member here. S&W 4006 CHP edition with three mags. The fixed rail on these is spaced a little better for mounting a light (my x300 just slides right on unlike on my other 4006 TSW with the riveted rail) and the spurless hammer won't chew up the back of my hand, and it looks cooler. The trigger on the regular 4006 is much smoother but probably the same weight.

https://scontent.fapa1-2.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/27749870_10155804922695219_1494138616337439871_n.j pg?oh=03b1f710d4e2c059c6f4e7aab089408c&oe=5B15D3AD

My other 4006 TSW on top and the CHP on bottom with the Surefire mounted. My TLR-3 would be a better fit but I can't find the extra mounting keys for it right now. Copper Custom offers kydex holsters for these with a light so I might order on for the heck of it even though I don't plan to actually carry it.

Then finally got into Definitive Arms, they installed the magwell adapter and cleaned up the action.
Other parts I have on her are:
CMC Trigger
Bonesteel stock adapter.
Krebs handguards
RS Regulate mount. I'll be upgrading the optic very soon.

Thanks. Lots of work and time into it.

Thanks. Not a huge AK fan, but your set up made me do a double take. The concept is growing on me.

Doing a little cooking this morning. Bake at 150 for 20 minutes and wipe down before setting out to cool. I'll probably finish up with some spray solvent when it cools to flush everything out of the smaller nooks and crannies.

Was planning on grabbing a LEO trade-in M&P40 at some point but I scored this really nice used M&P40 at the LGS for $350.

I really like the subdued gray on that 681!

Took one of my new LCP customs out to the range, thing turned out to be a dumpster fire with multiple failures to extract so it'll have to go back to Ruger. Found a box of .38 special in the truck so I shot the LCR I had in my pocket.
