I've been meaning to get rid of mine for a while now.

Also, lol @ "limited production P226 pistols" from the end of the video clip.

EDIT:

Also the comments are amusing. People (incorrectly) correcting each other on the lineage of the P6 is pretty funny.

In the swirling torrent of misinformation out there about the operation to take out OBL I'm surprised anyone actually believes that was the weapon used. It's certainly possible and may well be true...but I doubt anyone outside the very small community of men who did the deed actually knows.

I wish I was kidding but I am certain SIG will attempt to capitalize on this with a "limited edition" run of prettied up P226s.

There was a similar story locally, I had hoped it was an isolated incident.

Yeah, I'd honestly be surprised if there were more to this than some yokel behind a gun counter dreaming up a story to sell more Sigs.

Agreed. I would find it interesting to know what was used but only out of pure curiosity. It is understandable that they would like to keep the details under wraps.

"This rait here very Sig was the gun used to send that camel humpin' Bin Laden to hell. And note the purdy grips on it- that was made from wood whut come from the True Cross..."

Seems like if it was a 9mm the mp5 seems a more logical guess.

Unless they just straight up executed him boondock saints style.

"And shepherds we shall be, for thee my Lord for thee, power hath descended forth from thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out thy command. We shall flow a river forth to thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be. In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti."

BOOM-BOOM-BOOM

"Geronimo down. I say again, Geronimo down."

Because you know, that IS how it happened.

I love how the "expert" sweeps his non firing hand with the muzzle.

I like the steel plate "this is basically the 226 in forty and in nine..." Like any other gun in that caliber wouldn't have done the same thing.

I got mine for $369. Police trade in, West German 9mm. Nice gun. Too heavy. Sold it.

It was probally a M4 or Hk416. Only time I used a pistol to clear a room was when I could not turn the corner with a M4.

I like my sigs but that is f'ed up because HK's are being used now by many teams.

They don't use MP5's anymore.

huh. From reports that a post mortem photo would reveal a badly shot up skull - with some significant portion gone - I figured a rifle/carbine did the dead not a pistol.

I am not a moderator for the site, and I will leave moderating it to them and the staff.

That said, the photo above does not add significant value to the topic, and if it is actually a photo of what it is said to be a photo of, it really doesn't need to be blasted out on the internet.

I get it that once a photo hits the net, it is there forever, but it is my hope that in light of the recent events, and the continued fight ahead, that the membership of this site will practice sound judgement when it comes to posting photo's or information about organizations they are not involved with. I won't get into an argument about the practice of information security, or lack of it. But posting, reposting, linking to, or otherwise continuing to circulate that kind of information undermines the efforts of the men and women who are doing the work.

I see what you're getting at, but I think we're giving hardware too much credit here. Whoever took that photo understood that.

Understandable and I'll try to respect that here on out.

There is a police supply store near me that still has police trade-in Sig P226s for around $350.

Needless to say, just because whatever unit uses a specific firearm doesn't necessarily make that firearm the best choice. I shoot better with Glocks than I do Sigs.

On a related not, here's an HK416 setup with an authentic Naval Special Warfare cat.

I didn't think tactical cats were transferrable.

How many are there on the registry?
