This is another drill we should have done before but somehow didn't...

This is another changing gears drill. You'll transition between different size targets trying to get good hits at an appropriate speed for each one. Like last week, choose to shoot this at 3, 5, or 7 yards depending on your confidence and skill level. Obviously you should pick a distance at which you can reliably hit a 1" square on demand.

You will shoot this drill five times. Using a shot timer, record your time for each run.

The drill is shot as follows:

Draw and fire three shots to the 3x5. (3)
Transition to the 2" dot and fire two rounds at it. (Two)
Transition to the 1" square and fire one round at it. (1)

Do not take extra makeup shots. Be sure you have at least six rounds loaded in your pistol before drawing each time; if you mismanage your ammunition and need to reload in the middle of the drill it still counts.

At the end of five runs you should have fifteen hits in the 3x5, ten hits in the 2", and five hits in the 1" square.

If your range does not allow you to draw from a holster, begin the drill from your preferred ready position.

Please report the following when you post your results in this thread:

Start position (concealed, duty, or ready).
Distance to the target.
Total time for all five runs.
Total number of hits on each target zone (3x5, 2", 1").
Make & model of gun and holster.

Training with firearms is an inherently dangerous activity. Be sure to follow all safety protocols when using firearms or practicing these drills. These drills are provided for information purposes only. Use at your own risk.

First attempt
Total time: 27.22

Maybe I just need to shoot faster, that will make me more accurate!

Second attempt
Total time: 25.54

1": -2

Decided to slow down deliberately to guarantee hits...

Third attempts

You recall your average split to the one inch square?

Sorry, I do not. I would have described it as 'a long time' though.

Decided to start off at 3 yards, because historically 1" squares dodge my bullets.

Start position: Concealed AIWB under a t-shirt
Distance: 3 yards
Total time: 19.65
Total hits: 15/15, 10/10, 3/5
Gun/holster: S&W M&P9 in a JM Custom AIWB

Figured that wasn't too bad, so I moved back to 5 yards and did it again.

Star position: Concealed AIWB under a t-shirt
Distance: 5 yards
Total time: 22.28
Total hits: 13/15, 8/10, 5/5 (WTF?)
Gun/holster: S&W M&P9 in a JM Custom AIWB

Vision was off today, it seemed slow and choppy. I had some great runs where everything came together, and others had eye sprinting bad. Part of the problem was watching my hits and not driving the gun on the transition. Each shape seemed very disconnected, almost as if each run were three different drills. Hopefully I have time over the weekend to re shoot this.

I gotta say, I have this problem often with the various P-T targets printed out. Something about the white paper, thick dark lines, and small targets at close distances really engenders my eye sprinting like a mofo. I do not mean they aren't good targets; I simply find it extra-challenging to be on the sights continuously with them. Which probably makes them better targets.

Ran this again today at 5yd for the heck of it. This is the distance I designed the drill for because (at least for me) it turns the 3x5 into a high% target while still making the 1" a speed brake.

Total time: 20.01s
3x5: 15/15

Too fast, tried a few more to figure when wheels didn't fall off, and found that to be 4.85/run or 24.25.
