I have searched the archives but thought this might make an interesting "state of the art" or at least a snapshot of late April, 2013 for the P-T Forum on belt usage.

What is your most-used belt for CCW stuff? Wilderness? Five stitch? Three Stitch? Frequent Flyer? Ares or Volund? Leather?

I've been using a Comp-Tac belt for the past 4 years and have no complaints. Because I have no complaints, I also have no experience with other purpose made carry belts.

Most of my friends use the Wilderness Tactical belt though.

I have this 1.5in leather belt that I bought on sale for $7 at Express when I was picking up a shirt for a buddies wedding. After it stretched a little bit it quit stretching and turned into a pretty damn good gun belt for carrying AIWB. I keep meaning to buy a real gun belt but the one I have is comfortable so I don't really see a reason.

I dyed a Wilderness 5 stitch Frequent Flyer belt orange a couple months back. That'll do.

Wilderness 5-stitch Original Instructors Belt.

That is all I will wear.

I can't say enough good about this belt. I bought one with my own money, and honestly, I cannot find a single fault with it.
I talked a friend of mine into getting one - he kinda questioned me on it since it was so expensive, but now that he has his, he's absolutely thrilled with it as well.

I can't recommend Wilderness belts enough!

I love my Wilderness belts. I have an original instructor belt in 1.75", and a 1.5" frequent flyer. I find myself using the narrower belt more these days.

Volund Gearworks Atlas. I have two of them. I still wear leather when my shirt is tucked in, but wear the Atlas any time I can.

Yeah, that one is similar for sure. But just hoping we could cut through some of the 'define what kind of belt' and 'are we talking leather or what' stuff and just get to the bottom line: what is your favorite belt?

I've run wilderness belts but really like belts with cobra buckles.

Favorite is from Endeavor Stitchworks, he's not taking orders right now. Have some OSOE which are well made but not the best adjustment or threading.

Anybody got suggestions for other makers let me know.

The jury is out for me between the Volund and the Ares. Volund is more practical from a stiffness perspective, but more difficult to put on with the G-hook at 3 O'clock. Ares is easier to put on, but stiffer and thus my kydex loop prints a tad bit more. Galco brown leather for those dress 'em up occasions. All belts are 1.5.

For AIWB, 1.5" Wilderness 5 stitch instructor but at work for my Safariland holster and other gear, I wear a 1.75 Endeavor Stitchworks Cobra buckle belt

+1. Tried the cobra buckle. I ended up passing the running end through the belt mostly and rarely unclipped the belt. FF does the same thing.

I've had my frequent flier the longest and its my favorite. I also have an instructor's belt I like. I bought a HSGI with the cobra buckle but don't wear it often.

I have a Sam Andrews 1.5" suede-lined leather belt. I have worn this as a gun belt (when not in uniform) on a daily basis for literally 10 years, and it is still going strong.
I am seriously looking at the Ares and Volund Atlas belts, though.

1.75" HSGI Cobra Riggers Belt is what I've been using for the last 6 months. I like Wilderness also, but wanted to try to cobra buckle and HSGI is an NC company. To me, the buckle presents a slightly thinner profile than the Wilderness-type buckles do and I like being able to unbuckle vs. having an open end where the holster could slide off.

Milt Sparks 1 1/2" for the last 5 years. I have a 5.11 in black when I have to wear black shoes but it isn't 1/10 the quality of the sparks.

1.5" Wilderness Frequent Flyer 5-stitch with CSM (polymer) lining. I've used the regular 5-stich without CSM and that works just as good. I've been using these for a few years now and am very satisfied.

For years it was a Wilderness Frequent Flyer for the nylon side of the house. But for the last two years I've worn a Volund Atlas belt and been very happy with that.

Church usher role calls for a Beltman 1.5" black belt. Probably had it about 5 years now?

I am an Investigator and my agency requires that for the majority of my work week that I wear dress shirts and slacks. The black Wilderness frequent flyer gun belt works great as an everyday belt that does exactly what it was designed to do and looks close enough to a normal belt, that with a covering garment on, nobody pays any attention.

90% of the time I am running a Wilderness belt. 10% of the time, I am running a Milt Sparks leather belt. The Milt Sparks belts are of outstanding quality. I have holsters and belts from Milt Sparks that are now 20 years old and still in top notch shape, in spite of heavy use.

Another Wilderness FF user here. My first one was a regular 5-stitch model, and my current one is the polymer-lined version.

I have an Ares Ranger as well; however, I wear my FF most of the time.

Best deal on a solid gun belt I have found was at http://www.jbgunbelts.com/index.html . He just turned the business over to his nephew, don't know how they will be now, hopefully the same. Not perfect craftsmanship every time (he guarantees it!) but the best gun carrying belt I've ever used of four I've used before this.

I have been all over the Ares Ranger belt. I have two of them and can't speak highly enough of them.

I also use the U.S. Grunt Gear Contractor belt for various uses. Both belts are very well made.

I really like the looks of that 5 shot belt though! For my leather I have always used Wild Bill's Concealment but might have to make a switch for that!!!

I just received my Titanium Wilderness tactical easy fit belt, and it doesn't fit.. I was waiting all week like a kid waiting for christmas. I tried it on and I can only get it to engage about 1in of velcro with my undershirt tucked in. So back it goes to wilderness tomorrow so I can swap it out for a large. From what I can tell though it is extremely well made and I think it's going to make carrying my gun a lot more comfortable.

It's good gear.

My favorite is my Endeavor Stitch Works 1.5. I have read on other forums that he has not responded to anyone in a very long time. I emailed him a couple times in the last few months to have him make me another with no response. Looks like they may be gone for good.

I may have to check out the Frequent Flyer.

I got my last belt from Endeavor like two years ago, it's just one guy and he was having some health issues and got married and was employed full-time not at a sewing machine. He had a rough stretch where he got behind in orders. Good products and a good guy but if you haven't gotten a reply in months I'd probably look elsewhere.

I'm in the same boat, though I've settled on 1.75. From this thread, I was pointed to Jones Tactical. The belts looks really similar though I don't have experience with them. Still a 7 week wait.

I've the 1.5 Wilderness instructor belt that I run on my pants with little belt loops, (only got one pair left) and its a great belt. I'm stuck on the cobra buckles though.

I need to wear my JRC leather belt more, I'm usually outside in the dirt so I've a little over protective.

Cheers,
Jason

I've got a Wilderness 1.5 that I wear for classes, but my normal everyday wear is an old Looper Leather belt that just seems to keep going and going. Fits well, is comfortable, holds the gun well.

I rotate regularly depending on what I'm wearing that day. I have a wilderness instructors belt, an atlas, and a brown horsehide from thebeltman.net. I like the wilderness for days I'm at the range or working outside. I wear the atlas when I want a smaller profile in nylon. The Beltman gets the most use. It's sturdy and durable. Holds up to wearing a G19, 2 15 round mags and two pmags just fine if I happen to get to the range wearing it. Plus it looks nice too. My fiancé hates my nylon belts so that plays a part in my decisions as well.

1.5" frequent flier if I'm untucked, especially AIWB. 1.5" alessi with jeans and open front. 1.25" tapered Mitch Rosen (black) or straight milt sparks (brown) with trousers.

The ff is my favorite but it is mud fence ugly.
