Thanks for the link. I'd never heard of the "exception," and wondered about it. Seems reasonable to me, but IANAL.

I look at it like this...

as a Citizen, KNOW your rights.

never expect someone to TELL you your rights, nor to observe them or limit their interactions with you with regards to them. law enforcement's job is not to protect your rights... it's to protect "society" and to solve the crimes assigned to them. they technically have certain "rules" that must be followed but as I've learned many times, rules can be broken. note that every ruling and august body has had procedures in place to suspend or violate the rules in place, IF THEY DEEM IT NECESSARY. it has been so since the beginnings of society. The laws of Man by Man and for Man can and will be violated by Man if he so decides. If you doubt that consider the existence of the class of Man we call Criminals.
