A new bill was just introduced in the Missouri state legislature that would send lawmakers who introduce anti-gun legislation to prison, a week after a group of Democrats from St. Louis introduced an Assault Weapons Banhttp://www.gunsandammo.com/2013/03/14/ga-ranks-the-best-states-for-gun-owners-in-2013/

Somebody didn't research very well on all the states.... OK is 30? They give us a bad score on NFA stuff but for no reason. There aren't NFA restrictions here beyond federal that I'm aware of. The same situation that gave AZ a score of 10 gave us a 4 because they misinterpreted something from the NRA-ILA?

That was pretty funny.

On what planet does TX have better gun laws than IN? The one where the XD was Handgun of the Year?

I guess Cletus & Fudd Monthly was worried about all them Lone Star subscribers canceling their subscriptions. ;)

Having lived in both Indiana and Texas, I'd say we have the edge on BBQ. But definitely not on the legal stuff.

I do remember wandering into the local Indiana Sheriff's office, having a really pleasant chat, then wandering out with my pistol permit. We spent more time talking about Colt 1911's and Wilson magazines, than filling out the paperwork.

And Cletus only subscribes to magazines with pictures, and not lots of big words. Too many words make his lips tired.

OK, that's funny right there, I don't care who you are.
You, sir, win the thread.

And as a Missourian, while I shared the laugh over the "throw them in jail," thing, it is about as likely to pass as the state assault weapon ban ;p

As easy as reversing the Brady scorecard rank.

NC was 19. Not surprised, especially with the introduction of this (http://api.viglink.com/api/click?format=go&key=c28cc990cb7f639194cc1ceeff87503b&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.carolinashootersclub.com%2Fth reads%2F135843-H-B-976-Introduced-yesterday-(NC)&v=1&libid=1366465601117&out=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ncleg.net%2FApplications%2FBi llLookUp%2FLoadBillDocument.aspx%3FSessionCode%3D2 013%26DocNum%3D4141%26SeqNum%3D0&ref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.carolinashootersclub.com%2Ffo rums%2F7-Firearms-related-news-topics%2Fpage2&title=H.B.%20976%2C%20Introduced%20yesterday.%20(N C)&txt=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ncleg.net%2FApplications%2FBi ...%3D4141%26amp%3BSeqNum%3D0&jsonp=vglnk_jsonp_13664656346657) bill last week.

I don't think it has a snow balls chance of passing but...then again, I never thought someone would introduce such a bill to begin with.

That makes sense. Of course a state that requires a permit merely to buy a pistol (a state referred to in TN and GA as "The California of the South") has 'better gun laws' than Indiana because Indiana's in the north and them yankee states have bad gun laws, 'cept for Vermont of course. :D

I thought the phrase "with a bullet" signified rapid movement up the chart? :p

Did Arizona have a law that one can't conceal carry in a restaurant that serves alcohol even if carrier doesn't consume, or am I confabulating?

Some time ago that was the case, but it has since been changed.

Phew, that's a relief, 'cause we wouldn't want to have #1 to continue being more restrictive than its lower ranked northern neighbor:cool:

It depends on how they weighted certain laws, but there are certain things about IN that could lead to its low score. E.g., the fact that you effectively need a permit to possess a gun in IN. This is especially true if "gun laws" includes defensive force laws.

You effectively need a permit to do what?

You used to need a pistol permit to transport a pistol anyplace but to and from the gun store, but that went away a couple legislative sessions ago. (The legacy of this is why so many Hoosiers have toter's permits...)

Sorry Tam, my mistake. I thought there was some problem with the bill that "fixed" that problem and that was why the "qualified" permit system was retained. I still would give Indiana minus 10K gun awesomeness points for having possibly the least gun-friendly supreme court in the country. I haven't looked in the last year, but last I checked the City of Gary's case against gun manufacturers was the still alive. It is the only case of its kind to survive the PLCAA.

WA is #40? Horse hockey. The "long list of places where possession or storage of ammunition and firearms is prohibited" consists of schools and post offices, and other Federal property. And bars, but not restaurants where they also serve booze. If that makes us #40, you guys must live in gun-owner heaven...

(And when did Guns and Ammo start caring about "Class III"?)
