Changing recoil spring assembly

I really hope this doesn't start a flame war...Ok, that's probably not the best way to begin. What I am looking for is a technical answer to a technical question. I'm not looking for opinion about which one is better. In fact, I don't really care. Here's my question:

Why does a Glock recoil spring assembly need to be changed and an H&K (relatively) does not? Glock - 7,500 rnds compared to H&K - 20,000+ rnds.

A spring is a spring. Is there something I'm missing?

There's a substantial difference in the design, as well as the cost, of the two springs.

The Glock recoil spring does all the work of slowing down the slide.
The H&K recoil spring shares the work load with the hammer spring.
The H&K slide must first overcome the very stiff hammer spring before it starts to compress the recoil spring, this puts less stress on the H&K recoil spring.

on that note of changing the recoil spring, just go with the factory? Or is there any advantage to some of the after market ones?

I like aftermarket, as you can get a stainless guide rod and easily try out different spring weights. Especially nice if you reload.

My Gen4 is using an aftermarket one, I changed over when trying to troubleshoot the plethora of failures.
