I've been shooting Precision Bullets (polymer coated lead) for a while now. I've avoided the leading issue, until now. It crept up on me rather quickly and I just spent 2 hours cleaning out 2 Glock barrels. It sucked, and I'm done with that. I now have ~15K bullets, and a dozen stock Glocks. Until components become more available, I've decided to use an aftermarket barrel.

I just ordered a Wilson barrel for a (Gen3) Glock 19, so I guess I'm shooting that for the foreseeable future.

A bronze bore brush, not coated stainless, works wonders to cut the lead. Leading can be the result of several different things. The trend lately seems to be the term "hard cast", so if you need a harder bullet in a handgun, why don't soft point .22s driven at 1300fps not leave behind skid marks as well? Check out the term "obturation" as it relates to reloading. Also I am sure Bill Riehl will be along shortly.

I started to go down that path then deleted it. Very simple, but the greenies would cringe. Works great though

What is this method you all speak of for removing lead without touching it? Thanks.

God Bless,

I suspect it involves bathing the barrel in a strong solvent, but I could be wrong.

If I have to do it again, I'll reach for a copper Chore Boy wrapped around a bronze brush.

I read about hydrogen peroxide and white vinegar, I wasn't willing to go there - yet.

I have heard it works well.
